RI - 500 Lightning strikes per minute?!!
Perhaps political commentary should be posted elsewhere, but these are strange times.B
Fuses fuses fuses
@atmasphere Sorry if I put words in your mouth. I appreciate that you have clarified what I thought you meant. -That was why I posted if there was a way to insure a fuse would have complete contact in a fuse holder.Bob
Fuses fuses fuses
@zavato I tried to warn you... are specialty fuses  supplied as original equipment, and directivity. I don't fully understand the question you asked. Do you mean aftermarket fuses already installed by the manufacturer? If so, I doubt any put the...
Amp recommendations
ML's are nice speakers. You are going through the proper route, in my opinion. Thankfully, BestBuys didn't sell you anything else.McIntosh is also wonderful, but pricey. You can do just as well with more moderately priced equipment. Being a Vander...
Fuses fuses fuses
While stuck in traffic on the LIE this morning, I was wondering if there is any material or compound you could use to insure complete contact between a fuse and fuse holder? I guess you could solder it in, but reversing it would be a hassle.B
Generator Power Supply--Audio Epiphany
I'd be concerned with slight variations in power coming from a generator.I know computers and UPS battery backups are very sensitive to this variation.B
Gungnir sound before and after multi-bit upgrade?
@ghosthouse ,Thanks for posting how long it takes. I was going to upgrade, but there was a backlog. It's nice to know that when they accept the order, it goes very quickly. My only bugaboo with Schiit is that they will not comment on what makes the...
Vandersteen 2Ci - Bi-wire cable question
If I recall correctly, Mr. V thinks vertical biamping less satisfactory than horizontal. That is, using one amp (monoblock) per channel, as opposed to splitting the signal.B
Fuses fuses fuses
@geoffkait I don’t want to put words in Ralph’s mouth, either, but I’m pretty sure he’s not really on board the whole fuse directionality train. His argument is (and I suppose he could possibly be accused of fence sitting on fuse directionality) t...
Magnepan upgrade
@ OP,Those 3.7's are awful big, but I bet they will sound amazing. I think Zavato's comment worthwhile- maybe adding a sub(s) would give you much of what the 3.7's can do. If I recall, more than half of the planar speaker is needed for bass reprod...
Fuses fuses fuses
Oh, your are going to light fires, especially with that avatar ;)Re: directional fuses, I recall Ralph at Atma-Sphere mentioning something, but I forgot the details. Though I think he said there was something to it. (If I am wrong Ralph, sorry).B
whats the very best sounding cables for realistic money
@mains, I like your thinking ( and writing), and believe you have a good head on your shoulders. Much of what you posted is in sync with my beliefs. As far as making a recommendation, so much is system dependent, that it is hard to make a blanket r...
Vandersteen 2Ci - Bi-wire cable question
Yup, that is a long run. A nice set of AQ Rocket 88's would be your best bet in my humble opinion. A used pair can be found for not that much money and often turn up on Ebay or Audiogon.Audioconnection helped me reterminate a set of Rockefellers i...
Subwoofer for classical music listener
Ahh, I remember the DQ-10's well. I always wanted to try a pair. Yes, I know you have the DQ-20's. but it brought back nice memories.B
