Speaker Recommendations - from Vandersteen 5As
@bigkidz , I am glad you concur.I don't think I am the most discerning listener, but I do know when I think things are a bit unbalanced.I also hate to say anything negative, especially when in front of potential buyers.I need to PM Johnny.B
Stereo Amp Brand Sound Signatures
Yes, there are manufacturer 'sound signatures'.I have no experience with the brands you listed, but I can say that Vandersteen speakers pair well with Ayre, Belles and Atma-Sphere amps/preamps.Bob

The OP has a budget of $1500. Why the recommendations on the Belles that is $800.00 over his budget? Read!He can always buy used.Even if he doesn't, the Belles performs way above its' price range and an extra $800 isn't really that much nowadaysTh...
Recommendations for a new integrated amp for Vandersteen 3a speakers
I just visited Audioconnection yesterday. Johnny was playing the VLR’s with the Belles Integrated and a Sub 3 subwoofer. It sounded mighty fine, to me.I owned the 3a sigs before moving to the Treo’s. Though not necessary, adding the 2wq subs really...
High value, giant killer speakers?
@kenjit ,I believe Fritz is trying to say that despite using the best parts, they don't achieve the greatest potential.-Only a talented designer can make full use of such parts and implement them far beyond what they offer at face value.-Kind of a...
connecting Bluesound node 2i streamer to old system
The Node has an ethernet connector in back.I use my Original Node (non 2 or 2i) with a Netgear router to give me 5ghz band wireless.Bob

Aesthetix + AtmaSphere
@OP, I think you should PM John Rutan (audioconnection). He sells Aesthetix and Vandy and would have the most accurate info.I have been using Atma MA-1's and an MP-3 with my Treo's for the past year. I just switched over to an Ayre KX-R (non Twenty...
Speaker Recommendations - from Vandersteen 5As
I just got back and met with Bigkidz. It's nice to put a face with a name.We listened to the VLR's, Sub 3's, Belles Integrated, Ayre Codex, Bluesound Combo.Very nice, but I thought the bass was a bit exaggerated-I don't know if it was the Sub 3 se...
Van Den Hul Phono Cartridges

Hi-Fi amp recommendation
+1 for McCormackA solid performer, and you can get it upgraded by SMcAudio in California.Heck, you don't need to buy a working unit, as they essentially gut the amp. Google them for the phone #, Either Steve or Pat will answer. They have done many ...
Bookshelf speakers for classical music
Vandersteen VLR's will play any music you throw at them. And, do it well. But, they need to be placed near a corner to enhance bass response, though you can always add subs, like I do.Bob
Node2i + Qutest or Yggy or Codex or something else
I use the Node with an Ayre Codex.John Rutan had a side by side demo between the onboard DAC and the Codex. The difference was clear.I also can say that the Schiit Gungnir or Yggy should provide approximately the same level of sound quality. To be f...
