Emmylou Harris, "Red Dirt Girl"
Undertaker; Don't believe I have "Live at the Ryman", although I do have 15-20 Emmylou CDs. I'll make a point of finding it. Thanks. Craig.
To tube or not to tube...
Hi 1439; tube pre-amps are definitely worth it, and except for tube replacement they are just as reliable as solid state. I use a Sonic Frontiers Line 2 pre-amp (six tubes), listen 3-5 hours a day, and have the pre-amp in standby the rest of the t...
Emmylou Harris, "Red Dirt Girl"
Sol322, JD; I own and like them all a lot. I'd probably rate them #1 "Red Dirt Girl", #2 "Wrecking Ball", and #3 Spyboy. But I havn't listened to Spyboy for awhile. But really they're all excellent for this type of music. As noted in the C/W threa...
C/W music Audiogon members
Really nice to see some Agon members that like C/W also. For a long time I thought just the mention of it must be taboo here. Albert; I'm sure you know that I was just "baiting" you in jest with my thread comment. Of course what I was thinking of ...
C/W music Audiogon members
Paul, Avguy; glad to see there really are some others who appreciate good C/W. I do agree/think that the last several years (10-20?), that what is called C/W has evolved into a kind of country pop that I really don't care for either. In fact there...
Henry Kloss Model 1 Radio by Tivoli
.......I've been trying to describe the sound of this radio, and "tubey" is the best I can come up with.
Henry Kloss Model 1 Radio by Tivoli
Duke; The Model does not use a wall wart power supply. It uses a standard size (small) AC cord that is replaceable (a nice touch). I checked out the AM section and it is just as good as the FM, although I don't have much in the way of AM stations ...
Speaker Cable Length
Jim; thanks for the thread, I've got a similar situation to yours, ie 14 ft. Syn. Res. cables. But with rearranging I think I can get to 6-7 Ft, but I'll have to go to 4-5M ICs. Sam has a good point re: resale value. Thanks. Craig.
Is My Room Large Enough?
Hi Am; Yes your room is big enough, just continue on the course you're suggesting, follow the advice in the above posts and you could have a very nice set-up. I started out with a 12 X 14 room, put Vand. 2Ce speakers (pretty big) and 175 wpc amp i...
Soundstage - Too much?
Thanks PI, but my system is sounding great. My above post is a bit confusing. I got that big, bloomy, forward, diffuse soundstage only when I was auditioning the components listed above, and was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced that p...
Amplifier Stand
I like the looks of the all black Sanus amp stands sold by Audio Advisor (www.audioadvisor.com). Besides looking good-- in an understated way, they will support up to 200 lb. amps, and cost only $90.. Cheers. Craig
Soundstage - Too much?
.....false alarm about the voting/rating thing on my part. At some point I just didn't close "the window". I completed rating each post-- must have taken 10 minutes. Cheers. Craig.
Soundstage - Too much?
I really think this is an excellent thread and posts. I didn't know how to rate all the "good stuff", so I decided to just give everyone a +1 for content and a +1 for delivery. I got about 1/3 of the way through the posts, and the "system" wouldn'...
Using cheap CD-R disc on Audio recorder
.....the Pioneer W739 is less than 9 months old and already an antique?? I do think I paid a lot more than Charlie did for his machine, so mine MUST be better, ie more "high end". NO? Get pixelated Charlie! Cheers. Craig
Using cheap CD-R disc on Audio recorder
I agree with Charlie, and I have the Pioneer W739 CD recorder. These "consumer grade" recorders must read and recognize the SCMS watermarking on the audio/music CD-R blanks, or it will not record (but I've never actually tried it). "Pro" CD record...
