List of Unlabeled HDCD's My DAC display's "HDCD" when it recognizes an HDCD disc, and I've occasionally been surprised to see that an unlabled CD has actually been HDCD encoded-- don't remember which at the moment, but Lucinda Williams "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" is an ...
Do "gold" discs sound better? Hi Steve; I have several gold CDs, and 3-4 where I also have the standard version. The gold CCR Chronicles CDs, may sound a little smoother, but the difference is by no means dramatic. On balance, I've always thought that the gold ones were less f...
Level Restrictions? Hi S7; I can pretty much play my stereo system as long and as loud as I like most of the time as I have my own listening room and no close neighbors. But when we have people staying awhile (overnight), my listening room is adjacent to our guest ro...
JVC XRCD CDs, are they worth the extra cash? Jeff; The newly re-mastered CCR CDs are not XRCDs. They have been recorded using what JVC calls "K2 20 bit Super Coding". I don't know how this technically differs from XRCD, but the CCR recordings using it are much better than the originals. Chee...
Quality of recording vs Musical tastes Sean; an interesting thread, and if I gave you the idea idea for it I don't know how-- but thanks for the "nod" anyway-- been having those "senior moments" more often these days.I have done what both of your points suggest, but mainly I have tried...
JVC XRCD CDs, are they worth the extra cash? Sean; Yep, big CCR fan here, and besides those mentioned, I have several other CCR compilations. At some point I may trade in the original set-- but hey, they could be collectible some day, so no rush-- and they are paid for. Now that I have a goo...
JVC XRCD CDs, are they worth the extra cash? As noted by Bomarc above, the JVC 20 bit K2 Super Coding process is excellent too. Recently all eight of the original Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) CDs were re-mastered using the JVC K2 process. I have the eight original CDs, the two gold Chr...
What's it worth if you sold it today? Kirk; I've wondered that myself, but have not attempted to calculate it as components/wires etc. vary in age, demand, and perceived value. As a "rule of thumb" though, I'd just take 50% off retail to arrive at present selling price, and I think I'...
A pass Labs X250 amp worth a divorce? I wouldn't think the Pass would be worth a divorce (close though). It would be worth a few nights on the sofa perhaps.........? Cheers? Craig
Spades or bananas I seriously doubt that I could hear a difference between the two-- even if it were possible to A/B this. But I use and prefer spades. Cheers. Craig
what made you get up & dance during the Olympics I'm a Yank, but Sale and Pelletiers' exhibition skate was dynamite, and I really did want to dance during the Rock and Roll music they skated to-- AND they really did EARN their gold medal, IMO. Sixteen year old Sarah Hughes' gold medal performanc...
Gold Face Olympic Power = Canada Sale and Pelletier were fantastic in their exhibition skate, not to mention that they EARNED the Gold Medal they were finally awarded. Oh yeah, THE hockey game was good too. And if we had to lose, I'm glad it was to our Canadien brethern. CHEERS. ...
Can POWER CORDS really make that big a difference? Yup, but try before you buy;>) Cheers. Craig
Anybody have a technical definition for "Jitter"?? Jitter is timing error(s) in the digital data stream. I haven't heard the DIP, but used a Sonic Frontiers Ultra Jitterbug for several years, and it did make an improvement improvement, ie reduced glare and improved smoothness. Good Luck. Craig
What happened to list prices? Good question Ed, I'd like to know too. Craig |
