Stillpoints Ultra SS vs spikes on concrete I would bet that the Ultras would beat the Herbies but they were too rich for me at the moment as we have 2 kids in college, planning a wedding, and just dumped 5K into repairing cars. For me this experiment was to see whether devices proclaiming ...
Dont laugh I have only one pair of IC in my system that goes from Ayon CD5s to my amps.
Stillpoints Ultra SS vs spikes on concrete Well, my Herbies decoupling gliders that are designed to go under spikes came today. I also got the big fat dots to go between the upper and lower speaker modules. I have Von Schweikert VR4Sr's on a maple wood over truss floor with standard VS spi...
Stillpoints Ultra SS vs spikes on concrete Ryriken. You bet I will post and look forward to your input as well. My wife leaves tomorrow (Friday) for two days and my Herbies are supposed to arrive Friday - so I should be able to get in a good listen.
What do you feel? I find the beauty of the music very healing and it makes me soul-connected to listen rather than in my head. I can use music to celebrate a good mood or change a bad mood into good. The power of beauty to heal is profound. Music was even able to r...
Stillpoints Ultra SS vs spikes on concrete Palasr - Thank you for your honest input and the (YMMV). I am going on the strength of Jim Smith saying that in voicing many systems every person liked the Herbie's products under their spikes. Mine are coming this week and I will post my mileage ...
Stillpoints Ultra SS vs spikes on concrete I have been tempted by the Ultra's too. If you are looking to dissipate vibration as the Ultras are designed to do, you might try Herbie's Cone/Spike Decoupling Gliders under your spikes. $14.89 X 8 = $127.12, compared to about $1,800 for the Ultr...
Violin/Cello Clasical Music Wig. Nice system! Here are some of my favorites from the last year each good both in terms of both performance and recording quality. Hope this helps.J.S. Bach Sonaten and Partiten, Nathan Milstien solo violinMozart Sinfonia Concertante & Hayd...
Audio Horizons TP 2.0 Preamplifier MichaelIf you want to keep, and seller is not cooperating, send it back to Joseph Chow who designed it at AH and he will make it right.
Where does the money go in a Blu Ray player? I would suggest whatever you end up with, then go to Best Buy or Target and pick up the $199 Sony Blue Ray player and compare pictures on your TV. You can easily return if not happy with it. My guess is that sound quality will go up more than vide...
Help with amplifier choice I would suggest tubes in your preamp and a ss amp. With a tubed front end I really like my Nuforce Reference 9 V3SE's due to low heat and great sound. They easily fill a 28X38 foot room. Also lots of respect for Pass XA.5 series
Low amount of buzz okay? Had a similar buzz and found it went away completely with well shielded IC's Hope this helps. A buzz like this can also be saturating the mid range a bit and that may affect sound quality by masking microdynamics
Oppo 93 vs. regular CD player? Another idea: I just bought a $129 Sony blue ray player that also does SACD as well the usual. Great picture on regular DVD's upscaled. Plus I use the digital coax audio out direct to my Ayon CD5s DAC/preamp section, thereby bypassing the Sony's D...
Audio Horizons TP 2.0 Preamplifier I strongly preferred the early 60;s Siemans cca's. But the cheaper Amprex White Label PQ's were also good, abit wetter and less controlled. Hiss level may vary with tubes. Unit should be very quiet, just a tiny bit with your ear right up to the tw...
Is upgrading worth it? For the high quality stuff I am right here in the sweet spot relishing all the details, venue ambience etc. For 50's and 60's rock I move way (open floor plan) and play while doing dishes in the other room or dancing (if no one is around) to the m... |
