One more that I forgot: USA Tube Audio
Just Turned 50...
I'm 61 and hearing fine and still get excited to hear subtle improvements in sound but probably less tolerant of noise. Don't worry about aging - it has its advantages. My Dad when he was ninety still could be moved to tears by a beautiful violin ...
Cd mats, weights et. al.
I like DeMatt very well for sound and easy of use and that it covers the edges of the disc
Tubes for Ayon CD2s
I will say that in my Ayon CD5s the 1980 NOS 6H30 DR's made wonderful difference but as you say expensive. Parts Connextion PCX sell 1986 NOS 6H30 DRs for about 100 bucks each (1/3 the cost of 1980s) and from what I hear PCX feels they sound as go...

Using Granite under speakers

Anyone heard Nuforce Reference 18's
For my Ref 9 V3SE's, I use 3 Hyperion Magnetic floaters each directly under them, sitting on an oak shelf, under which are sandwiches of rubber-cork-rubber. This helped considerably. Then I added a 5 lbs diving bag filled with lead shot on top of ...
Best amp for Von Schweikert VR4SR mk2?
For my VR4SR's I use Nuforce Reference 9V3 SE monos and with proper vibration control (Hyperion Magnetic floaters) and mass loading (5lbs diving bag on top), they sound great. These tweaks are necessary because the amps are only 7 lbs each. Can le...
Anyone heard Nuforce Reference 18's
WorldcatJust read the review today. Thanks for the heads up. They did indeed like them. Did you have the Ref 9's before?
The Audiophile's Wife
There are a couple of new posts on the blog. Grannyring, sounds like your wife even kept her sense of humor upon the arrival of the open baffle speakers - hope you like the sound of them too.
