New Vinyl I don't admire him at all. I think it's awful that on such of a one-of-a-kind occasion as this, that one would miss it. Let bygones be bygones and celebrate the achievement. Just my .02 worth... That is the easy go-to response. You are not a...
New Vinyl Most of Dire Straits best records have been reissued from Germany's Pallas pressing plant and they sound great. I confess to not having been a huge Dire Straits fan until "rediscovering" just how good they were recently with these new re-issues. "...
Cardas Cables I have ARC tube gear, a Ref 6 and Ref 150SE and Clear Beyond XLR is magical between the two and Clear Rev 2 is likewise the best of several speaker cables I auditioned to power my DeVore O/93's. It is without a doubt system dependent. It is one of...
I hate biasing! Do you have the yellow plastic tool that ARC supplies with their amps? It makes finding the slot in the trim pot so much easier than using a screw driver. Also some of ARC's amps make it easier to actually see the slot of the trim pot whereas with...
Art Dudley Calls B.S. but without naming names - PLEASE DO! Of course you do. Disagreement on this Board (and most others) is about as endemic as smoking among Israeli twenty-somethings. What Art would and would not buy or put in his own living room is not the point. The point is that a segment of what we ...
Art Dudley Calls B.S. but without naming names - PLEASE DO! It all boils down to the delta in the competing concepts of "form follows function" vs. "style and flair in a luxury good has a price of its own". Take a stroll down 5th Ave in NYC or Rodea Dr. in Beverly Hills and you see the purest examples of t...
ARC Ref 6 and Ref 10 opinions , talk, stories, buying options and opinions 05-16-2018 10:48amHi,If you could get a demo of the Ref 6 to make sure it’s for you, then that’s a different story. Friends have owned the Ref 6, in some cases twice, and moved on. I had a Ref 6 and I personally was not happy with it. I now own ...
Furutech GTX NCF receptical break in, how long @lak No, I don't, and I wouldn't given an unlimited budget either. I think these "tweaks" are antithetical to HiFi. The entire point of a high fidelity gain stage is to build a circuit as revealing of the input signal as possible while revealing n...
How can Wilson Audio speakers sound that good if they are using OEM drivers? No... OEM does NOT mean made by the producer of the finished product. It only means the company that produced the equipment originally installed in the finished product. So for Wilson, OEM drivers would be SEAS, ScanSpeak, and Focal. Uhh, yeah ...
How can Wilson Audio speakers sound that good if they are using OEM drivers? fsonicsmith,There are worthy exceptions, Vivid for one. I don't follow you. Are you saying that the buyer is not paying a premium for Vivid's proprietary drivers or that the benefit of the proprietary driver is worth the premium charged? I assu...
New Speakers up to $15k - The more I read the less I know! I'm pretty sure the DeVore 0/93's will still be great speakers some 20 years down the line whatever upgrades may or may not appear between then and now. The same way the original Harbeth M40's are today. John DeVore loves electronica according ...
New Speakers up to $15k - The more I read the less I know! Yes, the state of the art loudspeaker design still involves serious compromise. I'll compromise on anything this side of a screechy treble to get a vivid midrange. Its the best way for me to forget that I'm listening to loudspeakers. For some other...
How can Wilson Audio speakers sound that good if they are using OEM drivers? OEM is the wrong term. Original equipment manufacturer applies to parts that are manufactured by the producer of the finished product. Your question then means "how can Wilson loudspeakers sound good when they use drivers manufactured by Wilson". ...
Happy with digital, but thinking about vinyl--looking for system specific recommendations The big mistake many make is to think that vinyl and digital will sound the same. Tied to that, many think that different turntables from low priced to high priced will have different SQ levels similar to the gradations of SQ as you go up in price...
Am i missing something without a power conditioner? I will vouch for the Isotek Syncro. I paired one with an Isotek Aquarius EVO3 so that the Syncro feeds the juice to the Aquarius which in turn provides 6 outlets. I got both for about $4K new with a discount. But I was warned and I stand by the ad... |
