Vandersteen 2ce Sigs with bass coupler issue
How did your inspection of the Vandy go? Just curious on your find here!
Best Speaker for a reflective room ?
The new Gradient Revolution R-5 might be an alternative. Supposedly the Active versions are quite nice. In the standard passive configuration, I have no idea how they would sound with the Hegel, but on paper seems like it could be worth investigat...
Anyone dislike Ohm Walsh speakers?
I think this is part of Ohms problem, quality is so variable at times, and it is frustrating! Who wants to wait even longer for something that they have already waited a long while for, only to have to send parts or the whole speaker back?   I o...
RIP Glenn Croft
Certainly is a shame, and he will be missed. I enjoy a Micro 25 preamplifier and Series 7 amps. Have had them for a number of years. Simple, spartan little amps that sound very good.
Anthem STF Integrated ARC
Get a long LAN cable at Lowes, run from your router to amplifier if feasible, set up ARC etc. and once done you could disconnect it. Just a thought right off….
Why are there so many wooden box speakers out there?
How about the Gradient 1.4 speakers? Yeah, they might look like little robots, but they do have a lot going for them. FWIW…
Are the new Ohm Walsh speakers Audiophile quality?
If I recall, and it has been awhile, probably around 2008 or so, my newly purchased 2000/3000 upgrade drivers for older cabinets used Dayton Reference drivers(or were spitting images of them) that were aluminum coated, not all aluminum like typica...
OHM 3XO Factory Rebuild
@johndel1960 Glad that you are enjoying your rebuilt 3XO's! They are fun speakers to listen to. I owned a pair back around 2007 or so, refinished the cabinets and then had the 3000 driver upgrade. I kept the original drivers and redid the foam sur...
Where did you buy your first audio gear?
JC Penney's technically....1979, I had ordered an MCS receiver, cassette deck, turntable and speakers by mail order. System came in, receiver was broken. Took it back/return. Found out that Playback-The Electronic Playground in Danville, Illinois,...
Phillips Design Oh! Oh-16 speaker?
I was reading about them on their site just last week. I like most omni/semi-omni designs in general, and was curious about these as well. Always nice to hear about new companies and their designs. I cannot say I totally appreciate their cosmetics...
Bragging rights.....
@mapman, very interesting, Map! I have somewhat struggled a bit with doing this very thing as a wholesale change. I pretty well completed my "retirement" system a few years ago, and while I am not quite yet retired, the system is, and has, given m...
Upsizing Capacitors
Upsizing capacitance doesn’t always bring about improvements, and can create other problems if taking things too far. When replacing aging caps, especially main power supply caps, uprated voltage is fine, and sometimes, the temperature ratings, as...
For those of you who had spent over hundred thousand dollars for your sound system.
@ghdprentice  Yep, I do have the pickup truck, and for sure, I have done my fair share of helping with those moves! Hah!  On the boat side of things, a friend with a boat is a good one. I always wanted a boat, yet it was the one thing I could ne...
Anyone else feel like it’s the Wild Wild West?
In it all over the years, I have just learned to trust my own ears and go with that. Too much mileage that varies between each persons thoughts and feelings on any one topic, let alone the gazillions that we read about on all the forums these days...
For those of you who had spent over hundred thousand dollars for your sound system.
My system cost a fraction of the 100K, I do know at least I get to use it a hell of a lot more than my buddy who owns a several hundred thousand dollar boat, and one who makes fun of my "hobby" quite often. While I cannot judge if I actually get m...
