Amplification Suggestions for Legacy Whispers??? If you haven't gotten your amp yet, I would suggest you listen to Steve McCormack's DNA-500. That's what I'm using on my WHispers and the sound is amazing. Lots of power and current (500w -8 ohms/900w-4 ohms),very musical, loads of detail without ...
Which Solid State Amplifier is Making you Happy? I heard the Rowland 501's and to my ears, they didn't have quite the "involvement" of the DNA. The Halos were also very good, but again, to my ears, didn't quite have the breadth of soundstage or smooth intimacy as the DNA. Please note that I didn...
BAT vs. Mcintosh? Theo, et alI was torn between BAT and Mac as above, but heard the McCormack DNA-500 and now own it. Lots of power and current, but also great presentation - open, detailed with excellent control of the bass - more similar to BAT than Mac, but less...
McIntosh 501 or 602 for Magnepan 20.1 Another suggestion to try might be Steve McCormack's DNA-500. Lots of current and power(500w/900w) with excellent sonic presentation.
Mccormack or muse or forte I second the McCormack suggestion. I just got a DNA-500 and the sound is astonishing - it all started with the earlier DNA models, which you ought to be able to pick up to match your budget.
Which Solid State Amplifier is Making you Happy? I am using Steve McCormack's DNA-500 to drive my Legacy Whispers (lots of drivers, 4 ohms) and couldn't be happier. Only amp I've heard that comes close sonically is the BAT VL-600SE. Mac 501's didn't touch it, nor did Parasound, Rowland or Krell....
Best preamp w/Tuner for McCmk DNA-500? Thanks for the responses so far. While I realize I'm limiting things, I also have to operate within the constraints of my current space limitations. It may be that I use my Sunfire until my situation changes, if I can't find a substantially better...
BAT vs. Mcintosh? Heard BAT and Mac solid state, as mentioned above, and liked the BAT better. Then I heard the McCormack fully balanced DNA-500 and that's what I purchased. IMHO it has the best characteristics of both at a better value than either. Was a little le...
Legacy Audio Depending on the caliber of your other equiptment, you should notice a pretty dramatic difference between the Focus 20/20's and the other speakers in the line below it. They are all good - the Focus just brings more of verything to the table, so t...
Good musical speakers that go low? Help I would check out Legacy Audio's Focus or Focus 20/20's. I've had 2 pair - lots of tight bass, very musical and even the "S mag" likes them! They should be in your price range used and they look like fine furniture, so the WAF is quite high.
BAT vs. Mcintosh? Theo-Listened to the 501's and BAT at Audio Unlimited based upon your post above, and noticed pretty much the same differences you did. In fairness to Mac, however, I will point out that the BAT I listened to was not merely the VK-600, but the VK-...
Does anyone know the future of EAD. In response to the last comment, NO, Boelen will NOT honor any EAD warranty repair work. Their position is that since EAD is no more, the warrantees are no more. They will do "warranty"-type work, but will charge you for it. I found this out yeste...
Legacy Audio I own Focus 20/20's in Rosewood and they sound great, especially for Rock and movies. Recently got bit by upgradeitis(carried by mosquitos in my area) and got a pair of Whispers in rosewood. Pushed my 20/20 to rears and am biwiring with Sunfire Ci...
Parasound CA2 or Sunfire signature 400 channel Sunfire by a nose. Allows you to bi-wire the front 3 channels, with current source going to mids and highs and voltage source going to the bass. Am on my 3rd set of speakers (now Legacy WHispers) doing this with great success. You can achieve a ri... |
