Review: Denon APl 3910 CD Player
Update: For grins, put an Electraglide Epiphany on the 3910. I was amazed - the soundstage (especially width) opened up as did the highs. Detail has increased considerably - I am now hearing things I missed with the Elrod Sig2 - another veil has c...
Best preamp w/Tuner for McCmk DNA-500?
Update: After demoing it first, decided to go with VAC Std Ltd Edition and use the Tuner direct from the Sunfire. Plan to upgrade soon to VAC Renaissance w/o phono, unless I get sidetracked. Thanks all for your input.
Mating power cords with APL 3910
John-Mine is also an Epiphany, not X. I am still happy with the Statements. Been talking with a West Coast dealer who suggested trying an Epiphany X between wall and conditioner. IF I ever become disenchanted with the Statements, I may try that. M...
Mating power cords with APL 3910
For grins, I just tried an Epiphany on my APL-3910 in place of my Elrod Sig 2 - I was astonished at the difference. Much better dynamics and more detail as well as slightly better imaging. It was almost as though a "veil" had been lifted. Sound se...
Why is Monster M1000i interconnect overlooked?
If you like the M1000 IC's, you might also want to try the Monster Sigma Retro speaker cables - more of an even better thing. Pretty sure I just sold my last pair, but if you watch for them, they come up from time to time on Agon.
Anyone compare Electraglide UK R/R to Elrod Sig. 3
Update: As an experiment, just put the Electraglide Epiphany on my APL modded Denon 3910, replacing an Elrod Sig 2. The difference was very noticeable - more dynamics and a lot more detailed. Its almost as though a "veil" has been lifted. I prefer...
Elrod Statement & Signature Conditionner?
I have Statements going from wall to Conditioner (BPT 3.5+) and from conditioner to amp. Have a Sig2 going from BPT to my APL-modded Denon 3910 player. The sound is magical, and better out of the BPT than the wall with the 3910. David would defini...
Anyone compare Electraglide UK R/R to Elrod Sig. 3
I would try the Elrod, if for no other reason that to rule it out or decide you like it best. I currently have 2 Elrod Statements (wall to conditioner and conditioner to amp), 3 Signatures and an EG Epiphany on my tuner/surround processor(for HT)....
Good/great preamp with ht pass through? Thoughts?
VAC Standard LE and Renaissance
Why is Monster M1000i interconnect overlooked?
I have used the M1000(and actually still do in my rear theater speakers) and now I use Monster Sigma Retro Gold XLR's as IC's and Au24s as speaker cables. I actually prefer the Sigmas to the Au24 ICs in my system. The Sigmas are a pretty large ste...
VAC Phi 70 good match for Vandersteen 5As?
Fsarc - My 2 cents - I currently also own a McCormack DNA-500 and I agree w/Tvad. You might try the Phi preamp to get the "tubes" you want without losing the strengths of the McCormack and find you like it better than the preamp you have now. Why ...
What's Absolute Best Upsampling CD Player $2K-$3K?
Tvad & Germanboxers: FYI - Alex' latest bit of magic is to DOUBLE the number of DACs/channel, so there are now 4 DACs/channel. With my old DAC's only having about 150 hours on them, cold out of the box the new mod sounds like the upsampling is...
Review: Denon APl 3910 CD Player
Brainwater- Thanks for the response. The problem I'm having is that there are no dealers in Colorado except a small startup, so I can't even hear any CJ THERE, let alone in my system. C-J wasn't much help at all, so I'm pretty frustrated. I'm narr...
Review: Denon APl 3910 CD Player
Thanks Brainwater. What did you compare it to before you purchased? I've been looking at Thor.Raytheprinter: If you ever get to hear the APL modded Denon 3910, not only will you want one, you'll be wondering how you ever got along WITHOUT one this...
Which is the best solid state poweramp under $9000
I would look at Steve McCormack's DNA-500. Incredible power, detail, imaging and musicality for $7K list. I'm driving 4 ohm speakers effortlessly with the DNA's 900w into 4 ohms.
