Listening Height Adjustment -- Is This Why Two People Don't Hear the Same?
Also you saidone of the most important things for great sound quality (speaker placement) wasn’t optimal in the first place. The whole point of this thread is that the height of each listener’s ears needs to be optimized to the position of the spe...

@pimbo you are more than welcome to come and listen to my system and you may be rather surprised that while it may break some commonly accepted “rules” of setup it does sound surprisingly good 😉The post by @bdp24 in my system description is helpfu...
So I just inherited a bunch of CD's and some are made overseas...
As a general rule as with LPs I’ve often found that the original CD from the country of origin of the artist sounds best. This was definitely true of the Kate Rusby CDs I collected. Here I’m referring to first issues not teamsters of old material
Whats on your turntable tonight?
@slaw you asked about the MSFL One Step 45RPM pressings. I have several, they're certainly very nicely presented and exemplary pressings. In addition being double sided discs they do not suffer from the endemic dish warp that afflicted the Classic...

@genez nice super near field setup, very neat and preciseI solved my problems by screwing some 4” risers into the legs of my listening chair, leaves my feet swinging like a child but sounds so much better!

Many people have talked about using tilt to align the tweeters with the listener. Leaving aside room interaction my concern with this method is how do you ensure each speaker is tilted the same amount? I make sure that each of my speakers is perfe...
Best Place for Pre-Owned Cables
@ihmeyers -- while I agree that usedcables.com prices are not competitive I think you are 100% off base in ruling out 10+ year old cables. There's not really truly anything new in cable design and at the right price a 10-15 year old cable can be a...

I have a pair of M3s on order, delivery is supposed to be late September. Hopefully I’ll enjoy the same or similar delta I found moving from the V to the Q series.

Happy to have you any time @bdp24 but if you wait a month there may be new speakers too 🤪
thoughts on phono stage
@vinylbliss regarding the value of phono stages. I think an argument can credibly be made that the phono stage is the most important amplification step in any analog system. Information lost at the front end can never be retrieved downstream and t...

If I was in your shoes I'd take a serious look at thishttps://www.audiogon.com/listings/lis92i19-thoress-phono-enhancer-german-made-phonostage-phonoObviously a ARC Ref2SE Phono is easily within your budget (I know having just had to let mine go at...
Replacing fuse
I guess my concern is that the OP is clearly a neophyte to fuses and uncomfortable with the whole process, so the safest advice is to stick with the rated fuseMy own experience with SR fuses is that they do tend to blow on start up so I as a rule ...
Replacing fuse
Hmmm. So you want to buy a fuse on sale, save a few bucks and as a result burn your house down ... makes a whole lot of sense! Don't put in the wrong fuse -- the warranty is immediately void, and you create an electrical riskIt will work ... but t...
Replacing fuse
6.3A is a standard size and all the audiophile fuse manufacturers make this size -- Synergistic Research red/black/blue for example all available in that sizehttps://highend-electronics.com/products/synergistic-research-blue-quantum-fuses?variant=...
Listening Height Adjustment -- Is This Why Two People Don't Hear the Same?
You have a good point @prof, hence it's important to a) be aware of these differences and know when you're experiencing them and b) have a setup that allows you the listener to get to a consistent and repeatable position. Hence probably a fairly f...
