Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK...
I actually find the Q3s work best at the lowest damping factor. But you have the higher settings if needed

Here are the links to the Townshend alignment approach -- I used to own this, works but is really fiddly (needs you to plot charts!)https://www.analogplanet.com/content/analog-corner-28https://www.vinylengine.com/library/townshend/alignment-gauge....
Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK...
@melbguyone one thing that helps the VTL MB450III work well with the Magicos is the adjustable damping factor and input sensitivity. I did at one stage try running my prior set (V3s) with a low power (50W) tube integrated that my dealer swore by b...
Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK...
Please review my system for good results combining Q3s with VTL and ARC. Very high powered tubes work excellently with the Q serieshttps://systems.audiogon.com/systems/5707
Making my own power cord.
Audioquest make power cords configured as you needhttps://www.audioquest.com/ac-power/ac-power-cables/nrg-series/nrg-x2unless you are trying to make a cord with a three prong wall connector and the ground unconnected, not sure why you’d want to do...
How to tell if a CD is Encoded?
@cheeg no, not any book -- but Google is your friend, like this for example, a nice discussion and exampleshttps://audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/understanding-upsampling-interpolation.1447/
What will become of my beloved CDs?
Oh and to the OPs question -- keep your CDs, do not dump them, in fact buy more. I've never heard an streaming or downloaded file that sounded better than the original CD played on my DCS stack, plus by buying direct from the artist (which you alw...
What will become of my beloved CDs?
Issuing 78s is a bit of a gimmick really -- they're pressed on vinyl not shellac and while there might theoretically be an advantage to the faster speed (a la 45rpm issues) most motors running at 78rpm are noisy as heck so that kind of defeats the...
New in 2018
Shout out for the new Jennifer Warnes -- I know she's an A-phile cliche but this is just her having fun with a great bunch of songs with only one miss on the disc. The sound is clean and serviceable and if your system can resolve it there are some...
How to tell if a CD is Encoded?
Not at all @cheeg. Consider an analog pressing of an LP that says "remastered on a vintage Neve console from the original master tapes" that doesn't mean you're getting a tape, it just describes the techniques the mastering engineer used to create...
What will become of my beloved CDs?
@glupson why 78s? Because they’re still being pressed and issued 🤪https://kittydaisyandlewis.officialstore.co.uk/Shop/PhysicalDetails?pid=KDL_PH_4
How to tell if a CD is Encoded?
To which I’d add that you can also change how you listen to the final medium.  For example I listen to my red book upsampled to dual DSD, sounds better that way to me in my systemso to the OPs follow on question about ladder vs delta dig DACs, it ...
How to tell if a CD is Encoded?
All SACDs are DSDsome CDs are based off analog tapes that have been remastered in DSDsome DSD recordings can be purchased as CDswe seem to be confusing the recording and mastering (which is interesting) with the final media (which is the relevant ...
How to tell if a CD is Encoded?
@cheeg you're still a little confusedRedBook = CD Standard = 16/44.1PCMAny other PCM (e.g. 48/96) is not redbook and is not encoded on a CD, you can store these files on a CD ROM drive but it is not CD standardSACD as a standard is always stored o...
