CD Player vs. music streaming
audiotroy Are you indicating that running an SPDIF from an Esoteric P-05X to a COS Engineering D2 DAC is inferior sounding due to jitter problems? I thought this was a rather high end quality musical sound despite not being SOTA. I am using a near...
My stereo receiver is a little too bright. Can a cable help me out?
I had some experience with Pioneer receivers back in the early 1970s and found them to be rather hard and bright, not even in comparison to other highly regarded SS receivers.  The Marantz receivers never sounded bright to me but rather warm and m...

I occasionally perform with Hollywood studio musicians and members of the L.A. Phil at Disney Hall, Ford Theater, Gindi Auditorium, etc.  While the sound is not replicated, many fine recordings are engineered to bring a totally engrossing listenin...
Best speakers out there for Midrange and Highs
hombre - You mention that poorly recorded music sounds terrible on the Maggies.  I play acoustical 78 rpm (nominal speed) recordings, originals and CDs mostly and they are not high fidelity recordings.  Will they sound bad or fatiguing on Maggies?...

aniwolf - Use of High Fidelity cables is the problem with excessive brightness (and thin tonality).  I have heard these cables at shows and in a new friends $850,000 audio system.  YUK!!!  The absolute worst sounding high end/cost cabling.  My fri...
Any tweaks I'm missing?
Yes, I have a subpanel with 8 dedicated circuits of 20 amps each per duplex in the listening room isolated from the lighting and HVAC servicing the room which goes to another subpanel.  So, thanks, but I guess I don't need to do it.  I thought Deo...

I also have a pair of Signature IIIs in my living room 2nd audio system.  My primary system has Focus speakers which replaced ML Monolith IIIs in 2001.  Their price does not equate to their current musical value-they are a spectacular used equipme...

1. Demagnetize CDs, LPs and all cabling and power cords.I use the Talisman to demagnetize every CD and LP prior to play.  I don't do my cabling as it is infinitely well shielded and has special anti-magnetic properties (GroverHuffman.com for det...
Perfect Path Technologies confusion
Frank, if you hear my system now, you probably wouldn't want to leave either.  The new room and new DAC are superb additions.  It all adds up to more listening pleasure.  Last night I heard the very rare Grieg and Saint Saens 1903 and 1904 piano r...
Any tweaks I'm missing?
I have a dedicated (expensive) listening room (just equipment and seating).  The room has built-in bass traps and only two walls have sound absorption panels.  So, a pair of Hallographs behind/side of the speakers and a pair in the rear corners do...

millercarbon - I have 32 HFTs in my main audio room. The speaker kit is the only difficult placement. No HFT works near my tweeters or mid-ranges on my Legacy Focuses. Just 1/8" difference in height of the HFT warm sound on the sides of the ...
Perfect Path Technologies confusion
I have found, in my audio system, that there are places E-Mats work and don't work (or negatively work).  If I can tell the difference in effect, they must do something.  I have a dozen and find them most positively effective placed on power panel...
New Omega E Mat from Perfect Path Technologies
I use four E-Mats now on my Bryston Bit 20 isolation transformer (took 1 of 3 away from my CD transport).  The E-Mat makes a big difference on the Bit 20 versus a smaller difference adding more to the transport.
New Omega E Mat from Perfect Path Technologies
Hi Frank, I know you tweaked your CD player but my new DAC with an untreated same player through the SPDIF out as a transport only (high end A/C cable but no PPT or internal fuse upgrade) reveals twice as much information. The height, width, depth...
