What's next after Luxman 550 AX/II with Harbeth C7
Thanks, my C7's are the ES3, not 40th or XD, so a bit laid back next to the newer XD's from what I understand. I have a friend who used a 22 watt amp ( I believe an Audio Note Jinro) with Harbeth, and had no issues. There are certainly some differ...
Next MC Cartridge Advice/Recommendations
Flying under the radar, particularly their lower priced offerings, but perhaps consider the My Sonic Lab line . I just bought the Hyper Eminent, and am enjoying it very much. I also heard the Ultra, which is their next model up. That leaned a bit ...
Anyone Get a Degritter for Xmas?
I think the pops/clicks were damage done by mishandling (previous owner???) or in manufacturing. I don't know that they disappear. I think the Degritter may give such a good cleaning that everything is easier to hear. A good thing in most all case...
Moving away from inefficient/low impedance speaker in order to move to a Tube Amp
jerryg123: Are you running your Qualiton X200 with KT 88, 120, or KT 150’s. Really nice setup, but your Prestige speaker is out of my price range for my second system. I bet they are wonderful though. Ralph...I think you’re right in that this bedr...
Moving away from inefficient/low impedance speaker in order to move to a Tube Amp
Mozartfan said: If you run a single FR, any tube amp will work just fine. Could you tell me what FR means. Thanks...the system will be a second floor bedroom, that is around 19 X 15, with standard 8 ft ceilings. Thus far I’ve owned a Luxman 550 ...
Who's using Harbeth with tubes, what speaker model and how many watts per channel?
Update: I ended up buying the Luxman 550 AX/II to drive my Compact 7 ES gen 3's. It was pretty good, but I've since moved on. I'm thinking tubes, but as suggested above, I'm feeling there should be some power on tap. Maybe 75 watts using KT 88's, ...
Can someone suggest a lush tube integrated under $3000 used
Quickie EL84 would be really interesting to hear. OP said his speaker is not efficient though. Cary SLI-80 was the first that comes to mind. There are quite a few who perform upgrades to it, so there are always options to make it more neutral. In ...
Koetsu Rosewood Vs Rosewood Signature Vs HANA UMAMI RED advice please
It would be nice to get this thread back on track. Doesn't Raul like MM cartridges better than MC's in the first place. Just saying.... I came oh so close to going Koetsu on my Kuzma. The only reason I went with the My Sonic Lab Hyper was I though...
Koetsu Rosewood Vs Rosewood Signature Vs HANA UMAMI RED advice please
Was told Kansui/Kuzma may not be a good match. Dover said: "The VDH cartridges can work with the Kuzma 4Point11, but they need to be adjusted by VDH for the higher mass (18g)."The Kuzma arms are medium mass, aren’t they. Mine is 13 grams, and I th...
Koetsu Rosewood Vs Rosewood Signature Vs HANA UMAMI RED advice please
I have a Kuzma Ref 2, with a Ref 313 VTA... Perhaps not quite to 4 Point 11" level, but similar mass and an arm I'm very happy with. I was in the same price range as you, and have an MSL Hyper Eminent on the way. I bought it last week. I spoke wit...
MY SONIC LAB Cartridges
The EMT's are very good, and often overlooked. I would say the same is true with MSL, though I've yet to hear one. I think there is something with the Alnico magnet that gives a forceful drive to the proceedings which works well with Shindo. The w...
MY SONIC LAB Cartridges
Thanks to all for the great info, and also the cool info on the cartridge shootout from Jperry.... Just a short rewind, and I never once thought about Boron, Aluminum, Sapphire, or Cactus. It can't hurt to pay a bit of attention to this. It's inte...

Edgewear said:Matsudaira San’s designs definitely fall in the ’neutral’ camp, for whatever that term is worth. This often comes together with extreme detail retrieval, but the emphasis - if any - with MSL cartridges seems more on micro and macro d...

MY SONIC LAB Cartridges
Thanks table jockey...Nice review. Not sure if I agree with this statement within the review though: "High end cartridges often end up being super refined, polished and tonally charming at the expense of transparency and immediacy." Do you think t...
