Are Harbeth the only warm and euphonic speakers in town ?
Harbeths...Dull as a a dishwasher. With what amp?
Luxman integrated for Harbeth Compact 7's
Very nice. Congrats on the purchase. That is supposed to be one heck of an amp. Have you considered Denafrips or Holo?
Thorens TD 146
Maybe the Thorens are up there with the Linn. It just appeared to me that the Ittok was a more substantial arm. Isn't the TP-11 on the 146 a plastic arm? Thanks (-:
Thorens TD 146
How limited would my cartridge choices be with the lower mass 146 arm? I assume  the Denon 103, and wood/other versions of the 103, need not apply. The 146 is local to me, and the asking price is $600, but it's apparently minty. I can't help but t...
What Is So Special About Harbeth?
My C7ES3’s are a very nice second system speaker option to my Shindo/Altec’s. They get the all important (to me) tone correct, and are engaging at low/moderate listening levels. When fed properly, they do not get lost in my med/large listening are...
Acoustic Sounds Series
knollbent...which Skynard did you get. 45 or 33...and how does it sound. The Doors QRP’s are indeed very fine...I have all but WFTS, and Parade. I tend to reach for my early US pressings, which sound great also. I have to admit, my 45’s tend to si...
Luxman integrated for Harbeth Compact 7's
My experience with the Luxman 550 AX/II and C7 es3 was not a bad one. I have nothing negative to say, other than for me it was nothing special. I’m also a tube guy who almost always prefers tubes in amplification and phono. My guess is everyone is...
Kuzma 4 point 9” or 313VTA
I own and enjoy the 313 on my Stabi Ref 2. The 313 VTA leans to a full, meaty sound, but still has the ability dig in and extract plenty of detail. The adjustments are so easy. I stumbled upon a video recently with the top dog designer from Ortofo...
Moonriver 404 = Midrange Magic
Philip is a class act, and since he is now distributor for Moonriver,  likely doesn't want to chime back in here. This, due to people being hypersensitive about pushing the line. But I can understand that. The Luxman 550 didn't quite do it for me,...
Your tube amp related Harbeth experience.
It’s looking as if tubes are ok, with two important caveats in mind. 1) have 60 + watts on tap, such as a stereo ARC amp with a quad of KT 88 (Kt 150) tubes. 2) Perhaps I’m reading in to this too much, but I see a pattern of liking a more linear t...
Your tube amp related Harbeth experience.
Appreciate that jjss. I've been doing some You Tube homework on Dac's. I'm sure you are aware of the ladder (R2R) type Dac's and how they generally differ sonically versus standard chip DAC'S. I'm extremely out of touch with Dac's, so I won't push...
Your tube amp related Harbeth experience.
I could definitely see old CJ Premier being too soft. This would likely hold true with other classic sounding tube gear...It’s been decades since I have owned CJ. I’m trying to reassemble a second system, from which the C’7’s and budget pair of Mo...
Efficient speaker: Zu, Tekton, Volti, Klipsch, Fleetwood?
I have to put a word in for my Altec Valencia's. I just replaced the phono section tubes in my Shindo preamp, and was quite smitten with what I heard last night. Wayne Shorter ETC and Fleetwood Mac S/T Kendun press both so good. I use the Mass Mut...
What's next after Luxman 550 AX/II with Harbeth C7
That could be interesting news because that Lab 12 line is one I'd love to Hear. I've also been thinking about getting back in to digital, but not diving too deep. There is a dealer who is within a reasonable driving distance (2+ hrs) that has Lab...
What's next after Luxman 550 AX/II with Harbeth C7
Ryder- my experience mirrors yours. The bass of the C7 with the (NOW SOLD) 550 AX/II was perfectly fine. Never bloated, yet satisfyingly full. The Luxman never played an offensive note with the C7’s. I can’t share one bad comment about the sound, ...
