Smoothest and best sounding turntable/cartridge combo up to $1600??
Linn and WTL are good suggestions. I will also throw Funk Firm LSD in the mix.
records I find on my turntable often

Artists' lps that don't get the respect deserved
Thanks for the Hall and Oates suggestions. They are touring this summer too. Plus I'm sure their used LP's are reasonably priced. Always love Joni, but I've not yet tried Hissing O S Lawns. I have a sealed standard pressing, so no excuses there. I...

Thanks ghosthouse- Been meaning to check out some H & O. I really enjoy Joni Mitchell: For The Roses.  An underrated LP, in the great ones catalog.  Ladies of the Canyon and Hejira also awesome, but FTR seems to fly under the radar.
Good HiFi stores in NY, Washington DC area
Which did you prefer, AN, Harbeth , or ProAc? OP- It's a bit off your path, but Don Better Audio has a heck of a lineup. I believe you could hear DeVore, Vandersteen, Ryan.... and more.
Do you have a secret "guilty pleasure" recording?
Probably Men At Work: Business as Usual. I may ad some Hall and Oates to my collection, for which I'm already feeling guilty. (-:
RSD 2016
Gotcha -  that's what I thought.  I was also eyeing The Doors: Live @ Aquarius, which I believe is the first session.  I already have so many Doors LP's, that I'm now questioning my sanity.
RSD 2016
Thanks Slaw. Sounds like the Big Star Live is a winner.  But just so I understand, you last comment was a GOOD thing, right ?  (-:

Grateful Dead: Mars Hotel LP recording
Indeed- Steely Dan have such great sounding LP's, but something went wrong w/ KL. Scarlet Begonia's, China Doll, Unbroken Chain…. Mars Hotel is such great music. Oh well. Have to hand it to The Dead, they made some great sounding LP's. Oh- And tha...
Grateful Dead: Mars Hotel LP recording
I was in a group of about 5-6 guys at a friends house, and we did an American Beauty shootout. It was the Rhino remaster, Original Green label, and the MFSL 45. Unfortunately, we didn't have the Stan Ricker done MoFi 33rpm from a while back. This ...
Hunting for 1st pressings
+1 on last comment by inna. Worth the effort IMO.
Hunting for 1st pressings
There's generally no way to tell if a sealed LP is a 1st pressing,  because catalog numbers stay the same for several runs. Disgogs is the only source I am aware of, and it's never easy. In other words, I've seen matrix #'s of early pressings not ...
Quicksilver Mono 120 vs. Quicksilver V4
+1, Hard to go wrong with the V-4's. Had them in SE and Balanced version.  They get the tone right, which I think some designers may be losing touch with. I have not had the opportunity to hear the Mono 120's.
Feickert Blackbird versus Kuzma Stabi Reference 2
I have heard the Woodpecker, which is a ring down the ladder from the Blackbird. Not too far off in price though. I found the Woodpecker to slightly emphasize macro over micro-dynamics. It was quite open and natural sounding, though others may hav...
