Can someone recommend a few Joni Michell albums?
Indeed Song to a Seagull is wonderful music. Agree with Martykl on the sound quality. We can blame David Crosby for that (-: If forced to live with only 3, I would likely chose Ladies, For the Roses, and Hejira. But I'm glad I get to keep Blue, Se...
What spinning on your turntable today and how does it sound?
My early press EAGLES: One of these Nights sounds very good as well. I just opened my Neil Young Vol. 5-8 box. On the Beach sounded very good.
Your last concert was to see who and when?
Heart at SPAC on Thursday. They put on a great show. I saw them last year, and they were great then too. They only play about 1.5 hrs, but this time there were two opening bands to stretch out the evening.
Are wood crates like Crosley safe for LP's?
indeed- I think that's the best of both worlds. And even the sides 2 or 3" lower, making it easier to finger through.
Are wood crates like Crosley safe for LP's?
No, your right on Chayro. But I think the ones with a higher (12") back are better for LP's. The piece of plywood would work, but again, I'd rather have the higher back. I pulled a few up last night that had the higher back, yet lower in the front...
Are wood crates like Crosley safe for LP's?
If they are stacked on their side like you have, I can't see that as being bad for the LP's. But I want to use in a position with the LP front facing me, just like a record shop would display them. In this position, I am thinking it may not be ide...
Are wood crates like Crosley safe for LP's?
Thanks Johnnyb53. I'm not sure the fact the sides are shorter than LP are good for the LP's, because the ones in the rear would not be fully supported on top. I can see the convenience for sure. (-:
Neil Young LP box vol. 5-8 soon available on individual LP
After all that, I went ahead and ordered the box. Go figure!
Which integrated amp would you pick?
joey54- Did you consider trying the Obelisk? It appears you were at Johnny R's ....?   (-:  -Don
Neil Young LP box vol. 5-8 soon available on individual LP
Oh wow- That's saying something. Not an easy feat. My early press Reprise After the Gold Rush sounds great. I would be real surprised if the remaster 1-4 trumped the early brown label presses. Maybe I will go for the box after all. (-:  I hate to ...
Where do you go to from Nottingham Analogue ?
I heard 2 Brinkmann setups last year. Bardo, and Spyder. Tonearm was the excellent Reed arm, the 9" version. May have been Pernamboco. The Spyder engaged me quite a bit. They really do that jet black background thing. Of course, the Spyder itself ...
Nagaoka MP-500 cartridge
I could have explained that more carefully. I believe there is a 100, 200, 300, and 500 series. I was surprised they carried Nagaoka, so I asked the sales guy what the sweet spot was. He said the 200 series. So just to be clear, he did not say the...
Nagaoka MP-500 cartridge
Was recently at a Nagaoka dealer, and they told me the 200 was the sweet spot, but the 500 is very good. I'm not familiar with MM's, but I have theories based on what I have heard from others. Perhaps the MM's (in general) are a little less reveal...
Preferred pressing of The Doors: LA Woman LP
sudont- I ended up sitting tight with my standard (later) pressing, and the QRP. I think the LAW 45 will be tough to beat. Especially with the long run time, it really seemed to benefit from the 45 treatment. That said, I would also love to have a...
help a Die hard ANALOG guy choose a budget CDP
I had a friend over to listen who is solely a digital guy. He uses a Marantz SA11/3, which of course is up near $4000. I hope I have the model correct, but I believe the latest iteration SA11….His friend uses a Dac from a well respected manufactur...
