My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive I appreciate the input. I opened up the thread with the hope that discussion would not only talk about DD, Belt Drive..., but also discuss various turntables and tonearms. I plan on getting out to hear more turntables this year. Next on the list i...
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive This was an A/B of the 2 tables in the same room, using the same system. It took about 10 minutes to move the arm from one table to the other. I'm also not drawing any absolute conclusions. (-:
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive lancelock-Congrats on your move from VPI to the new Technics? Did you stay with the same cartridge? If so, can you share some general thoughts?
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive lewm- With regard to your first statement, very well could be the case. I also had a similar feeling about two belt drive tables, auditioned the same day. I definitely won't mention the names, because tone arm and cartridge were not the same.
Your last concert was to see who and when? Beth Hart- last night in the Albany area. I highly suggest checking her out, if she is your thing. She was really great!
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive ochremoon- It sounds like you have heard quite a bit, so my assessment is also broad, to say the least. onhwy61- None of the variables you referred to were obvious here.... Same rack.... feet and platter were similar or the same. We all hear diff...
What turntable and TONEARM brands sound best with the Denon DL103 and DL 103R? MC's My dealer carries Jelco, and says the 750's superiority over the 250 is easily heard. The price difference is relatively small, which should make the choice easy for most.
What turntable and TONEARM brands sound best with the Denon DL103 and DL 103R? MC's Yes- are you taking a U-turn sunnyjim (-:
$5,000 to spend for analog front end - advice please...:) It looks like PBN is offering you a nice table/arm and phono stage package for south of 5K. I assume he has left you wiggle room for a cartridge.
Grateful Dead May 77 Box Set Announced I'm tempted, but don't have anything special for a CD player. I'm running a Playstation 1, which is quite good, but not the most practical. May I divert this thread, and ask what everyone is using to enjoy their Dead on CD. I have a 5-6 titles I e...
Why are Harbeth speakers expensive while its drivers are not. daveyf- All great points. Especially about other speaker manufacturers. Like the ones charging 45K for a 10" woofer, mid, and tweeter..... And then 65K for the next model, with an extra woofer. I'm not necessarily complaining about these guys, but...
Grateful Dead May 77 Box Set Announced As much as I love American Beauty, I really enjoy the Godchaux era dead. I just wish all their live stuff sounded as good as Reckoning. Europe 72' is pretty good sound wise, but not at the level of Reckoning. Cheers -Don
Grateful Dead May 77 Box Set Announced Any Vinyl????
Why are Harbeth speakers expensive while its drivers are not. I bought a pair of dealer demo P3’s around 6 mos ago. Started them off in my main room, driven by Croft phono Int, I bought for them shortly after. In that room I ran a Tsd-15, Amadeus, A23 SUT. They were clearly able to show the potential of that...
Harbeth sound with high wife acceptance factor? Most recently played my P3esr with a Tsd-15 fitted Well Tempered Amadeus, in to a Croft phono integrated. Step was Auditorium 23.Lively, yet nicely balanced, involving sound. Couldn't imagine doing much better in that price range. |
