My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive This little voice tells me, It's time to start a new thread. (-:
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive Indeed- The consensus is belt, Idler, and DD, can all sound good. It would be great if we can touch upon some specific offerings. Again, range is 10-12K max for table and arm. I have no qualms with spending a little less.
Please help! - Buy VPI Classic or keep Technics 1200 Spencer- I agree with your last point. I believe part of the reason is analog can be so darned satisfying, where as digital seems to be a merry-go-round for many. In general, I don't like to be a cheerleader for Well Tempered, even though I think ...
Allman Brothers/Live at Fillmore East Possibly, but my pressing certainly satisfied. As far as the Right channel thing, nothing that was obvious to me, but I will give it another spin soon.I checked Discogs the other day, and my pressing was the second USpressing listed. I think MO an...
Allman Brothers/Live at Fillmore East Tried to respond yesterday, but my grandson wasn't having any of it. I also compared Side 1 only, started with the CLASSIC, and then the early Pink Label CAPRICORN. The latter had side 1/4 on 1 LP, and the other 2/3. The Classic had the more conve...
Kronos vs TW Acoustic Any thoughts on TW Raven GT? I'm going to try and hear one soon, but it will be in a different room, with a system that is unfamiliar to me.
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive OP chiming back in here (-: This is interesting stuff, but in the here and now, I'm thinking modern tables. I bet the new Technics is wonderful, but I would prefer more tonearm options. It seems like many here have been through analog battle.... A...
Lloyd Walker's Next Shocker Thanks- I have the Zerostat gun, the blue one. No real static problems, but notice when I would vacuum too long, it would create that static. That's why I keep it to 3 revolutions for drying. I will have to try 2 revolutions. Honestly, being such ...
Lloyd Walker's Next Shocker nkonor- Could you please clarify.... Not sure what you meant in the last sentence. Is it just that the Delrin vacuums it up quicker, and more efficiently. My Plexiglass one does the job in 3 revolutions, and I like to stop there, so it doesn’t get...
Preamp for a Line Magnetic i518? I was speaking more to the point that Charles1dad mentioned. Just couldn't explain it as well. (-:
Preamp for a Line Magnetic i518? Sorry- I haven't a clue, though I do find that 2 chassis version to be very interesting. Matt at Pitch Perfect will sometimes have a used one for sale as well. I ran my Monbrison in to an LM 211 IA without issue, but the 211 does not have a PRE IN...
Preamp for a Line Magnetic i518? I’m also thinking a Shindo Preamp, in this range the Aurieges MM, with phono. You would be simplifying the system, but also some of the loading and gain options of your Chinook. If you want to explore this area, I would think Arizona Hi-Fi or Don ...
Allman Brothers/Live at Fillmore East I will bet on the early Capricorn pink label, assuming it’s a nice VG + to NM- copy. I haven’t done a formal A/B, but remember my early Pink label to sound quite good, while my Classic redo was nothing special. You have prompted me to do the A/B t...
Auditorium 23 SUT Absolutely what greg said. The MC input in most all Shindo preamps is already going in to a built in SUT. The rare exception would be a special order sans the built in SUT. |
