Harbeth 40.2 40th Anniversary with Simaudio mono blocks
Yes Sir- I wouldn't hook up my Shindo mono amps to my Harbeths, and they sit within 2 feet of each other. So I understand that. Actually your entire point is direct and easy to understand. I'm stubborn, and still want to try mid power (60-80 Watts...
Roger Waters-Amused to Death
Have the original on this. 1992 I believe cut from original lacquer, All Analogue. Yes, that's how it's spelled on the record. These go for big $.
Recent upgrade to Cronus Magnum
Just as a point of interest...I believe the classic Cary SLI-80 did use tube rectification, where as the current (HS?) model does not. I have heard from someone whose ears I trust the old 80 is a hell of sweet amp. Agree with all of the above that...
Conrad Johnson ACT2 Versus 17LS2
No but the 16LS (mk1) I had was a sweet preamp.
Recent upgrade to Cronus Magnum
IMO- your to-do list in the proper order:1) Check (4 or 8 Ohm) Impedance setting2) Perhaps what davekayc suggests.3) Tube rolling* I disagree with the Power Cord suggestion, unless you happen to have another one to try. Not that it won’t change th...
Recent upgrade to Cronus Magnum
I  had the P3's, and am now breaking in the C7's. To power both, I've only used my Shindo preamp in to my Croft hybrid amp. No question the C7's are easier to drive, so the P3's can be a tough load. I am not going to pretend to have your answer, b...
LUXMAN L509X VS M700/C700U
I was too lazy to read this whole thread, so perhaps the above question has already been answered....However,  a conversation with my local dealer just today happened to answer the question...the 509 stays in class A up to it’s first 17 watts, and...
Quicksilver V4 or Silver 88 advice needed.....
Copied above quote from our late friend Paul...RIP my friend, you are missed in this community. I enjoyed our phone conversation, and regret not having met you in person. -Don"Not having heard the Silver 88, but just read the description on his si...
Harbeth Compact 7's
What better time than 2020 to resurrect this thread. Would anyone like to offer their opinion on cellosven's comments. Certainly many seem to choose Solid State. There is of course the fact that MORE people buy Solid State in general. Yet, having ...
Amp Suggestions for Harbeth C7es3
I heard the MC 452 with the 40.2.... Really nice combo! It was a Mac preamp, just not sure which one.
Amp Suggestions for Harbeth C7es3
Thanks Avanti and donjr- I've heard others like yourselves also wax enthusiasm about Cronus Mag/ C7 pairing. Im running a Shindo pre/phono in an all analog setup, so that's why I'm looking for a stand alone amp. I should correct my last post to Qu...
Amp Suggestions for Harbeth C7es3
Id love to hear a Quicksilver versus a comparable Rogue amp driving the C7's. For instance, a Rogue St-100 vs Quickie Silver 88's or the new quickie monos that use a pair of KT 150's per side. I believe all of the above fall in the $3,000-$3,500 r...
My Harbeth C7ES-3 story...
Thanks- I should be picking mine up Thursday. I will chime back in with a full review, specs, and measurements. Just kidding, but back soon with some thoughts (-:
Harbeth Compact 7's on the way: Amp suggestions?
Thanks Yogiboy and gotog. The Van Alstine and Hegel amps seems like interesting options. Anyone else with suggestions for stand alone amps. Again, I will be using a full function preamp, so no need to spend extra money on an integrated amp. Price ...
Harbeth Compact 7's on the way: Amp suggestions?
I just noticed on this sites sister C7 thread, someone went Line Magnetic 518 22 watt SET. That's the second time within the last few weeks I heard of someone having success with low power tubes and Harbeths. The other model was above C7 though. I...
