Luxman integrated for Harbeth Compact 7's
Very nice...I'm sure they are both excellent. I just can't bring myself to go LFD, for the reasons you mention, along with it's lack of built in phono. I'd love to go one box...keep it simple, and not require another cable.I have also heard Hegel ...
Luxman integrated for Harbeth Compact 7's
Many (including the Lux) have a built in phono... a good thing because I would love to keep it simple.
Well Tempered Amadeus MK1 - What cartridge would you recommend
Is it fair to say $1000, give or take, is your price range?
Luxman integrated for Harbeth Compact 7's
riaa... Nah makes perfect sense, but that's not realistic at the moment. The C7's are a $4,000 speaker, so I would think my price range should make a well balanced setup. avanti1960: shall I PM you to get the rest of your thoughts? (-: The much be...
Cartridges: Kuzma CAR or Lyra on a 4-Point (11") arm
I wouldn't sell the EMT line short. I admit only having a Tsd-75, which retails down near $2K US... But it's performance on my Kuzma Ref 2/Ref 313 VTA is quite satisfying. I'm not suggesting there are any free rides here, but the upper tier EMT ca...
Preamp suggestion for Quicksilver M120 amps
What pre are you playing it with now? Assuming you are, what side of the fence is it on sonically? Then there is a point of reference. Line stage only ? Price range? I've heard that Lamm LL all tube pre...very nice. I like the CJ Premier 16 as wel...
Best tube preamp for Quicksilver V4 tube mono's (newest KT150 version)
Get out..Audio Connection without Johnny R is like the Starship Enterprise without Captain Kirk. Cheers Johnny -Don
Primaluna DiaLogue HP Integrated Vs Line Magnetic 845ai
Congrats...Certainly different, but WARMER than EL 34? I’m also looking to pair my Harbeth (C7’s) up with an amp. I went on HUG (Harbeth users Group), and Alan narrowed it down to NAD or Dagastino, or simply choose the one with more power. Yes, th...
Quicksilver Mid Mono Tube Rolling
I've had V4's on two different occasions, the last time were the balanced version. I had the GED KT 88's. Don't believe I ever changed input tubes. Always enjoyed those amps. I plan to return to one of Mike's amps at one point soon. It could be mi...
MUST Have Vinyl
Nick Drake: New press of Pink Moon, or Five Leaves Left...early US Antilles press. I heard the UK of the latter is better, but mucho Buckos.Joni Mitchell: Hejira...any early press, or even the Rhino... Court and Spark... Many of hers up to high st...
Best tube preamp for Quicksilver V4 tube mono's (newest KT150 version)
Excellent point. This is indeed a concern. I have heard the Monbrison and Aurieges are even tougher to match, having no transformer in the output stage. The Massetto and up the line do have one. I believe the VR and above have a smaller stepped VC...
Best tube preamp for Quicksilver V4 tube mono's (newest KT150 version)
I have the VR, Vosne Romane. Funny on the timing here because I'm considering getting another QS...but either Sixty watt mono or Mono 120. This is to drive second speaker I recently purchased...Harbeth C7 w/ Ton Trager stands.Have not tried Shindo...
amp for vandersteens
Yes- this we can agree upon.
Kuzma Stabi Reference vs Avid Acutus
Fellow Kuzma Ref 2 owner, but with a Ref 313 VTA arm. Ross, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you had a Ref 313 prior to your 4 point. Do you suspect the 4 Point may have taken you toward the neutral side compared to the 313. I own both an Ai...
Harbeth 40.2 40th Anniversary with Simaudio mono blocks
prof2- what amp was driving the O/96 when you heard them. My guess is the O/96 and 40.2 are closer in efficiency than specs might indicate. A cavernous room is what it is, and any speaker will need more current to fill a large space.
