Wall Art FWIW, I use canvas prints as wall treatments in my listening room. Mine are photos I have taken over the years so they bring back fond memories while listening.
Is this a scam? I have sold items on Craigslist for many years. This scheme reminded me when a couple of years ago, I was selling an audio rack that I no longer used. It was a 5 shelf thing very sturdy. I got a response the first day. The buyer said to take the l...
A perfect song? What are your choices? Not sure if one would consider it the perfect song but go listen to a Britain's Got Talent recent You Tube where Loren Allred sings Never Enough from the Greatest Showman. She is just incredible. She actually sang it for the actress that lip-synce...
Di I really need to clean my LP's? Bottom line just clean the damn things....!
Perimeter Ring Clamps: Yay?, Nay?, Sources?? My VPI came with the "ring" but I have as yet to use it. I am nervous about it damaging my $3,000 cartridge. I use a Stillpoints weight which works pretty well. Most of my vinyl is pretty flat. My turntable can certainly handle the extra weight of...
What difference do power cables make? FWIW I bought the components for my power cables and built my own. It was a great project. I used Furutech parts and built 10 garage for my conditioner and the amps. 14 gauge for all other components. I ordered sleeving from Amazon. I already had ...
Wow....just look at this guy's car audio..... WHY?
Why Do You Post? I do not post very often. I joined because I thought this site would be informative. I do not often read the threads because more often than not they end up off topic and full of nasty comments when so and so does not agree with so and so. Maybe i...
Do you build anything for your high fidelity system? If so, what do you make? I guilt my audio racks from 1.5" butcher block and black iron pipe. I also built my record cabinet and CD cabinets from the same 1.5" butcher block. Oh and I built my own power cables from Furuteck components.
Dust cover up or down? FWIW I have a VPI HW-40 and even though it has a hinged dust cover, I do not use the hinges. When I play, I simply take the cover off and set it aside. It goes back on after I am through. That is a lot better than dusting around the top of the tab...
Dust cover up or down? "Can’t think of a single ultra high end TT that has a hinged cover? Would love to know if there are any?" The VPI HW-40 comes with a hinged dust cover. The price new of the table is $20,000. Is it considered high end? I would think so.
My First DIY Power Cable I did DIY for all my power cables with Furutech components from thecableco. I bought heat shrink tubing and sheathing from Amazon. They turned out great. I was able to make each cable the exact length it needed to be. On average they were about $1...
recommended oil for well tempered spindle cup VPI just recommends 40W synthetic motor oil on its website. I bought Super Lube from Amazon in a tube for $5 and it works just fine.
Power Cables and Wall Sockets I guess I was lucky in that my whole house was wired with 20 amp circuits. We bought the house in 2016 and it had ben built in 2008. The original owner was a computer guru and had the circuits all 20 amp. |
