Subwoofer
Find an audio buddy who will loan you a sub.  Install it in your "only" location, and make sure it isn't a "suck out" node in your room at which all low freq disappears, or a node which exaggerates low freq regardless of what adjustments you make....
Help with hiss
I've got hiss 24/7.  It's called tinnitus.
Why a dearth of some brands on the used market?
Maybe people actually like them and keep them.
If it sounds 'great', everything is ok?
Cracks me up.  Troll post if I ever saw one.  All these armchair quarterbacks convinced that if it sounds great, something must be wrong!
Can we create a consensus list of the TONALITY of different amps/preamps/brands?
No.  Only if by tonality you mean how it sounds when struck by a mallet.  No such thing as tonality independent of the other elements in the chain.
Amp Around 60 lbs Which Sounds Like A Gryphon 300
You can pick up a small class D amp and glue a bunch of bricks to it, thus achieving your 60 lb goal at much reduced cost.
Spending a month's salary
Just remember, in this hobby, spend < > invest, but spend = sink!
Help Connecting Dual Subs To Monoblocks
Just use the standard REL setup for each of the sub/monoblocks.  The problems occur when trying to hook up a single REL sub to mono blocks, but that problem goes away when you have dual subs.
Tube amps - what 3 things…
Make sure you can afford the cost of a periodic re-tube, and select a model whose tube types are still in production.

How do you stop house guest from damaging your speakers?
Me me me. It's all for me.  I won't share. I don't care.  This way the hobby will die out after this generation.  Serves 'em right, them ignoramuses!
A SHOCKING DISCOVERY ABOUT DIGITAL AUDIO
Hmmm.  Not really a discovery.  Your point?
Rell or JL subwoofer?
I don't think you can go wrong with REL; currently using an S/510 and planning to add a couple of Tx series (plus they're on sale this month!)
"Audiophile" Power Cables: The Greatest Audio Conspiracy Theory of All Time?
Too much time on your hands.  Nice novel, but I prefer the Cliff's Notes version.  Next.
