Parasound A21 In Mono vs. Parasound JC1's I meant to say, in terms of impedance handling, the ranking (usually) goes like this:Lowest (best): Monoblocks (Maybe 1 Ohm or so)Middle : Stereo amplifier working as a stereo amp (2 - 4 Ohms minimum)Highest impedance requirement (worst) : Bridged...
Parasound A21 In Mono vs. Parasound JC1's Hi MDBag,I'm a big fan of Parasound amps. I really think you should rely on your ears and not the technology per se. All their amps are pretty solid, quiet, smooth modern sounding amplifiers. A true monoblock usually has better low-impedance tole...
Class D is just Dandy! Hi Kdude, That output coil is perfectly in line with the output coil in many SS amps. Based on my simulations, this ends up being no more than about 10 degrees of phase shift at the top end. Far better than ICEPower. :) Best,E
Class D is just Dandy! One thing I'd like to see for the nCore modules which I can't find is output phase angle. If anyone can point me to a doc which has this I would appreciate it. I notice that the ICEPower units do have some phase shift involved. It is minor compare...
Class D is just Dandy! @kdude66 Thanks and welcome! :) Erik
Suggestions for active crossover setup please. Hi @bob_reynolds I'd be happy to. I have been using satellite/subwoofer systems since Miller & Kriesel claims to have introduced the concept with the S-1B monitors and an active sub. After a lot of experimentation, and using full-range speaker...
Suggestions for active crossover setup please. This is a really good idea, most flexible, and has the most problems with room integration. IT is a lot easier to integrate a bandwidth limited speaker (45 Hz and up) than a sub + satellites into a room. The lower you go, the more dragons you find...
Class D is just Dandy! Hi @guidocorona Thanks for the suggestion. I feel bad asking for a loaner pair with no intention of buying. :) To everyone else, it is really the contributors on this thread, even those i don't agree with, who keep it interesting and welcoming. :)...
Speaker recommendation for married couple Where are you geographically? E
Class D is just Dandy! Hi @guidocorona I wish I had a way to listen to an nCore pair without spending money. :) I would be better able to discuss the sound quality honestly. What I can repeat, is that compared to Parasound Halo A23's which are heavily class A biased, I ...
Class D is just Dandy! Hi Tim,I just tested it. It actually is a PDF download, so check your download files. :) Best,E
Class D is just Dandy! Following on, at 200 Hz the output impedance is 10x better with nCore, but the absolute figures are tiny. The difference in output between a high and low impedance speaker is less than 0.01 dB.Most "normal" speakers get very difficult to drive in ...
Class D is just Dandy! So, let’s get into some meaningful spec-manship. Let’s compare the frequency response, and output impedance (8 / output impedance = damping factor) of ICEPower and nCore to see about what could matter with different speakers. Here are the source d...
Class D is just Dandy! I'm just saying that I am open to the possibility that different Class D amps, like their linear counterparts, may sound different on different speakers. But if this IS true, I won't attribute it to Class D vs. linear.I believe nCore's do have exc...
Class D is just Dandy! Hi @guidocorona The general principles that a higher switching frequency with better transistors yields lower distortion and higher efficiency is not really in question. I question the audibility of anything measurably better than the current stat... |
