Class D is just Dandy!
So, to those confused by Class D vs. Digital, to be "digital" you have to convert or have the signal as an integer to describe the waveform. Like the digits in a CD track. This is "digitization" or converting an analog signal into a series of digi...

@georgehifi Interesting article, full of inaccuracies. One I may have helped propagate.Class D vs. Digital AmplificationThe article claims, erroneously, that Class D amps all have an A/D converter at the front. They do not.  It is actually more o...

Wait, didn't we have a manufacturer participate in this thread? I tried going to their web site but it seems down? http://www.iceh2oaudio.com/index_htm.html
Amps from the 1980's -- What gear holds up sonically? Reliably?
A brand I also liked, but I may be breaking my own rules, was Sonic Frontiers. I think they were 1990s?
Amps from the 1980's -- What gear holds up sonically? Reliably?
I saw a lot of Electron Kinetics but never really listened. I’m going to get murdered in my sleep, but I have never liked the look of McIntosh gear, so I rarely if ever listen. :) It makes me shiver and think of fake wood paneling. I have to say I...

Tandberg made the best looking amps in this era to me. They also were one of the few amps that could drive the Snell A series to justice in the bottom end. But listening recently, man, they really did sound grainy and nothing like your average mod...
Bryston BDA-2 Or Yggdrasil Help
I made a couple of small errors.SOME Shiit DACs use proprietary "upsampling" (not oversampling) which they call "Adapticlock." I have only heard this version. :) Best,E
Audio Research - DAC9
I had the ARC DAC 8, and it also used a proprietary USB driver. Unfortunately it really did need the USB interface to sound it’s best, and was still veiled across the midrange and treble. My Mytek Brooklyn spanks it easily, except when using the U...
Matching surround speakers
You should have no problem then. :) Get speakers you like, with good dynamic range. I will say that bigger speakers will add to the dynamic range and realism. Best,E

@guidocorona is correct about the module used in the Prometheus.http://www.stereophile.com/content/theta-digital-prometheus-monoblock-power-amplifier#1uPJbsjlSAtFgo...I wasn't paying attention to the specific module, just that it was a Hypex nCore...
Matching surround speakers
Not for music... but...I'm assuming you will use room tuning and auto-calibration? If so that will cure 90% of your matching problems. The only issue I know of is your processor and it's crossover configurations. I just use an Oppo 103, so I am on...

One idea I had long ago was to build digital amp modules for the old Theta Dreadnaught line. Theta has already introduced a D version of the Dreadnaught though, here:http://thetadigital.com/dreadnaught_d_amplifier_info.shtml#Best,E
Clarity Cap CMR Impressions
This is slightly off topic, but I think it’s good for audiophiles to have an idea of what they are listening to. In addition to B&W and Magico, I have found another famous speaker brand that relies on Mundorf, YG. In this article:http://www.th...
