Linking xlrs together Not really. But the real question is, why are you asking us? You should trust your own ears. What good is it to you if I say I can hear excess microphonic distortion at the joining of the cables, if you can hear absolutely none of it? So, try it....
Looking to completely overhaul my preamp section, knowledgeable people needed! +1 for the Mytek Brooklyn, excellent DAC with lots of inputs, MQA support, good phono.E
Looking to completely overhaul my preamp section, knowledgeable people needed! The P5 is just inexpensive. The P7 is a good value.
Will preamp manufacturers tell you if the model is phase inverse? You can't just invert a single ended cable. :) You can't just swap the leads, because the outer conductor is almost always ground. You'll just end up with ground on the center, and ground on the ring. This would work for truly balanced inputs, whi...
Subwoofer advice please I'm not sure why you think you can't add an external crossover and EQ. What you won't be able to do is add a high pass filter, which means you won't be able to cut the power your Quads use. That's a nice to have, but not an absoulte. Much more imp...
Will preamp manufacturers tell you if the model is phase inverse? I think the idea of having a phase inverter makes the most sense, given the possibility of a recording being inverted or not, however...I should also point out that the simplest designs invert phase, since they use a single tube stage per channel....
Is this my imagination? YEP!! :) Try stuffing the floor between with illows and/or throwing a comfortor on top of the parts that aren't tubes. :) Just for listening, this is a quick exercise. Prove it to yourself. Also put stuff on the sides, those speakers are pretty c...
Amplifier Starvation Electrician is right... but if you are worried, add a voltage monitor such as a power conditioner. It doesn't have to be on the amp if you are worried, so long as you can "see" the voltage while listening to music. What matters is the voltage drop...
Obscure brands worth considering For obscure, Fritz. Very high value to parts, had the best sound at the show in Oakland. I spoke to two recording artists associated with Blue Coast Records, they concurred. http://www.fritzspeakers.com/Partly also his choice of room treatment, bu...

Will preamp manufacturers tell you if the model is phase inverse? For the record, multi-way speakers often invert one or more drivers relative to the others to achieve correct phase matching through the crossover regions. You can see this in the Stereophile step response measurements. In general (but not legally...
Is this my imagination? And no, it is not your imagination, this is why I repeatedly encourage listeners to play with pillows and blankets on the floor, and between the speakers. It is a MUCH bigger deal than cables.
PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium Preamplifier. DESTROYS SPEAKERS!! Don't want to hijack the thread, but I have to agree. DC input protection should be de rigeur for most amps, especially one with such high current you could weld with it. Also VERY surprised a professional grade amp would not include this. By the ...
Is this my imagination? Room acoustics! It's not so much vibrations, it's reflections. Throw a blanket on top of it all (not permanently)Best,E
Component recommendations: best bang for buck. I havent taken the plunge, but I hear good things about the Krell processors.Best,E |
