SQ : Anthem receiver vs. processor Thanks soix!
SQ : Anthem receiver vs. processor aux - That's an interesting perspective. I hadn't thought of that. So, for the same level of sound, the larger receiver has a stiffer power supply.
Abominations: HT processor to tube amps? I need to have a single system, to the point where I may get rid of all but 2 amplifiers. So I'm toying with the idea of using a receiver for HT, but using tube amps for L&R.
SQ : Anthem receiver vs. processor caphill : The only thing I can see it stepping down in is wattage and channels. Do you think there's more? Best,E
mk II or mk III? You will also see V2 for "version 2" sometimes used, it means the same thing.
MK II & MK III It is quite simple. It means updated. MK is short for "mark" which is kind of like "brand." So MK III is newer than MK II which is newer than the original. Originals, being original, often don't have a "mk" nomenclature, like during Julius Ceasar'...

Monitor Audio RX8 vs older Gold GR 60's Unless you are desperate for more and louder bass, stick with what you have. They are fine fine speakers. The platinum series though, if you could find THAT on sale.:) That would be worth the upgrade. Best,E
External DAC connection You really should just use the HDMI into your receiver, but if you are curious, you can usually use your TV to de-embed. Run HDMI into it, and then use the optical digital output to your benchmark.
Which DAC: Benchmark, Mytek, Audio Mirror, Holo Audio, Mojo Audio? The Mytek Brooklyn is the closest to the Liberty I have heard. What I've written about a great deal here is how good it sounds with Redbook. Before this generation of DAC's (which I aslo include Schiit) there was a really wide performance differen...
A problem with AC Power you may not have considered. @ptss - I cannot tell you if you will hear a difference, but in my mind there’s very few technologies in audio power conditioning well documented:Series mode surge suppressionBalanced powerActive power regeneration (PS Audio)Power regulation Activ...
AV7704 Audyssey jim is right, but also, if you have different types of speakers. In multi-way speakers, designers will often flip a driver relative to others to achieve correct phase relationships. So if you are using mixed brands of speakers I could see this hap...
A problem with AC Power you may not have considered. The Furman Ref20 is a great piece of kit. As the OP mentioned, very high frequencies can go right through a transformer, while the transformer tends to filter out very low frequency noise (100s to low 10kHz)However, the Furman includes SMP filteri...
Satellites have max 20 watts transmit! TBF, antennas are often described as "high gain" so I’m not sure Geoff was speaking purely about active amplification. With up to 70m wide dishes, I’m sure those antennas are of extremely high gain, not to mention the digital signal processing and...
Preamp advice needed. Usually for ESL's I recommend tube pre and stiff solid state amplifier. Your mileage may vary, but you can get tube warmth, along with high frequency extension this way.Of course, there are exceptions,, and some tubes may work very well with this ... |
