Best subwoffer crossover with room correction
OP: By letting the sub take over more Hz you not only reduce the distortion, and increase the dynamic range of your mains but you also make it possible to introduce DSP that is ONLY in your bass. That is, any problems you have in the 20-80Hz rang...
Speakers On Wheels?
I think it's better to have a system you can live with than one you cannot. If they have footers, investigate the thread size, you may be able to get wheels that slip right in.
Can an unbalanced-to-balanced adaptor damage an amplifier?
The issue for any amplifier, headphone or speaker, is whether the (-) side is active or grounded. 99% of all amplifiers out there only drive the (+) terminal and leave the (-) attached to the signal ground.  Sometimes those amps can be bridged so...
Best subwoffer crossover with room correction
Lets start with placement.  Use the AM Acoustics room mode simulator to try to find the best location for the speakers and sub.  Try to keep your speakers and listening location out of the worst / lowest room modes. Next, you should take Vanderst...
Passive subwoofer amps help!
What exactly did you acquire?  A plate amp with DSP may be all you need.
Marantz vs. Oppo or Theta
@big_greg  Thanks for that.  My biggest issue last time I went looking was that the two brands I evaluated, Emotiva and Onkyo had really thin sounding preamp sections.  Music was terrible and movies were not convincing.  They made my speakers soun...
Step down transformer for a turntable
No problem at all.  Oversize the current or power required by 2x is all you need. On the other hand, if it uses a separate DC power supply you may be better off just buying a local replacement.
Preamplifier sound Quality impact in home theatre bypass
I've never had an issue.  Usually it's a straight wire bypass.
18 inch subwoofer vs multiple 12 inch subwoofers with bookshelf speakers
Here is the articles from miniDSP
18 inch subwoofer vs multiple 12 inch subwoofers with bookshelf speakers
One thing I forgot to mention, specs and measurements like the one's shown above don't mean crap when you get a speaker in a room.  This speaker seems to have plenty of output to 40 Hz, which is great for the size, but in the room this could go ei...
18 inch subwoofer vs multiple 12 inch subwoofers with bookshelf speakers
In your case, if you can place each in an ideal location then do two. I don’t believe that smaller = faster, at all. That’s a misunderstanding of what really happens, however if you are flexible in the sub placement so you can smooth out the room...
Can a poorly connected XLR connection cause a reduced(less loud) signal?

Can a poorly connected XLR connection cause a reduced(less loud) signal?
XLR has two signal conductors, if one is not working you loose about 6 dB of output. Swapping a cable L to R should diagnose if this is a cable issue or not.
New Dedicated 20A Circuit Wiring Questions
@zlone - The recommendation is to put them on the same leg to minimize possibility of a ground loop when the legs aren't balanced. If you are going through that much trouble though, run 220V with 12/3 and put an EquiTech step down transformer in ...
New Dedicated 20A Circuit Wiring Questions
I don’t think any of these commercial devices really protect against a lightning strike There was a poster here on A’gon recently who shared a picture of lightning striking his stereo and living room, it blew the roof right off the home. In thi...
