Doing the Power Cord Thing
@builder3 I have tried everything BUT that cord. :)  As I wrote, I tried something far worse, a PC, 16 gauge cord, thin as a pencil. Seemed OK. Hard to justify $100 I spent building mine on sonic merits. It looks really nice though! :) Best,E

They enjoy the sweet hell of their creation and there’s no one gonna tell them any different.  Enjoy!Well, it is true that the particular wire I am using is notoriously brittle. Doing your own reliability and quality engineering is part of DIY. Br...
What is the best sounding Pre/Pro 7.1 channel with analog bypass.
Parasound P7. No need for Y adapters. Its' a very good 2 channel preamp that has an extra 5.1. :) It is much better constructed and sounding than the P5.

What I don't think @millercarbon will ever quite understand is that he will never have more fun spending money as I have building stuff. This is after all a hobby, not a vocation. :DBest,E

No, what's convinced me about what expensive gear buyers can hear is from personal observations in the stores.
Parasound service problems
+1 pbnaudio They probably don't do part sales, especially for easy to find parts. What brand/size are they?
Focal Electra BE series
other than some bass bloat which was the room interaction Or... it was the amp not quite controlling the woofers. Just maybe.
Cable insulation, graphene, electron flow... how does it work?
Observation is first in science. In science, all is theory, no facts. Facts are for engineers so they don’t build bridges based on theory. Person who is neither a scientist nor an engineer nor a theorist writes a post to leave no doubt.

Parasound P7, was about to list it. :) The P7 is a much better 2 channel preamp than the P5, plus includes 7.1 channel in/outs.  It is transparent enough that you won't need to bypass it. Best,E
Whats playing on your system today?
Deep Field, compsed by Eric Whitacre.Inspired by the Hubble. Really wonderful new music. :)
Tekton tweeter design
Tempest, teapot, but honestly this thread would have stopped ages ago if we weren't arguing over whether this thread should be here or not.  :D :D :D My interest in the subject matter has always been narrow and limited.
Questions on next steps with my power amp
Wait, your 5.1 amp ..... is a pure amplifier, or an integrated or a receiver???
Jupiter Copper Foil, Paper & Wax Cap Versus Jensen Cap 0.10uF 630Vdc Copper Foil Ceramic
I think you shiuld absolutely try the Mundorfs, because you will fall in love or grow tired of them quickly. 😀
I woke up with cold ears
@mr_m Absolutely. We can learn a lot from machine learning and neural nets which can see around optical issues to detect disease. I find myself doing this, and aghast when other audiophiles do it in ways I don’t. :) I think a lot of this is why so...
Tekton tweeter design
This thread has merit because the community talks tech all the time and there was a lot of tech talk about how the tweeter array worked that was not very well informed. Personally, I'd rather not talk about whether they are decent speakers or not....
