5 channel upgrade vs 2 channel upgrade
If you already have a sub, then I don't think you'll have any issues. I'm not sure if the receiver lets you turn off unused amplifier channels, but I also think that adding a really nice 2 channel is plenty good. Personally, I have a Luxman integr...
Doing the Power Cord Thing
In my experience, it's impossible to make categorical statements about whether a DIY build can compete with a manufacturer's finished cable. I think making categorical claims is, in general, foolhardy. Especially based on small, or single sampl...
Doing the Power Cord Thing
Finished adding red TechFlex and black adhesive lined shrink wrap today. Also took apart the female section. The Connex connector is super nice, and the individual prongs come out super easy. I was a little worried that during conductivity testing...
I woke up with cold ears
Here I thought I discovered something unique and special. Since I did not, I'm bored with this thread! :D
5 channel upgrade vs 2 channel upgrade
If you want more output than that, you don't want a bigger amp, you want a sub. :)
5 channel upgrade vs 2 channel upgrade
Really nice choice of speakers. Given what you already have, I’d stick to the A21+. The main reason is you probably already have more than enough power for the remaining 3 channels, but you lack a sub. Better to increase the power to the L and R, ...
Cable insulation, graphene, electron flow... how does it work?
Here is a very reputable manufacturer talking about using graphene to coat their magnesium drivers:http://www.seas.no/images/SEAS_Graphene_White_Paper.pdfIt has a section on graphene as an insulator, but this relies on the arrangement, it doesn't ...
Cable insulation, graphene, electron flow... how does it work?
One of the important points of that article, and others, is that for graphene to work like graphene it has to be properly deposited. You can't paint it on.
Cable insulation, graphene, electron flow... how does it work?
It's basically snake oil, with extremely rare possible exceptions, especially since "graphene" is often really just graphite. https://www.graphenea.com/pages/graphene-graphite
Cabinet Cooling
I agree that your best option is to open up the cabinet as much as you can. Adding fans adds noise.
Doing the Power Cord Thing
So far, I've heard apologists and personal attacks. Either I haven't built a cable using good enough parts, or I haven't gone through the appropriate rituals (stretching, cryogenic treatment, etc). No one considers that maybe whatever these cables...
Doing the Power Cord Thing
I've never heard a $2000 power cord that I know of. You brought it up. The most expensive one I've ever heard is the one I just bought that was about $500. I did. What is your point? Here is one but not the only example: https://www.thecableco...
Doing the Power Cord Thing
I bought the 507 because I could hear the value.I have yet to hear $2,000 worth of value in a power cord. The con men and the conned. Also, I never built the cable components purely because I wanted to save $16. I bought it for fun. :)
Doing the Power Cord Thing
Just got a shipment from Parts Express to help me clean up my cable. Shrink wrap, Techflex and some tools. It won't change the sound, but it will improve the color scheme and make me feel a little better about the look. :)
Decision on speakers to go inside a cabinet
Oh, another alternative is to buy professional, powered speakers. I say this because they often include bass adjustment exactly to deal with this issue. Like this one:https://amzn.to/2UxOKLnCheck out the rear panel and see the "boundary trim"
