Classic Sub For A Reasonable Price
Hsu has several subs that will do this. My last apartment I had fantastic 16Hz to 80 Hz that would rattle your pants and let you caress an oboe.
Can anyone hear the difference when you add REL subwoofers when playing two channel
I was not bashing REL. All I can say I just could not hear much of a difference when adding a REL to the mix. I was expecting to go wow when I heard the REL, but they sure didn't immediately think they were worth the money. If you can't hea...
Recommendations for bookshelf speakers
Parts Connexion has Wharferdale and Monito Audio on great discounts right now. :) If you go wiht Wharferdale, highly recommend a cap upgrade. Totally worth spending $40 on a pair to upgrade them.
Best integrated/power amplifier under $6000
Luxman beats Parasound and Pass by a wide margin IMHO.
Speaker advice for listening to Blues music
Have you thought about some killer horns? From Great Plains to the Klipsh Fortes.
mix capacitors
Um, that's kind of a weird mix! So you are trying to end up with a single effective capacitor of 2.5uF ? With those high quality caps if you absolutely must do something funky, bypass them with the same cap. That is, if you go with Jupiter, use 1....
Power amps into surge protector/Conditioner or DIRECT to wall? Final verdict?
Oh, almost forgot. Of course, look for UL 1449 for a device tested as a surge suppressor. If it doesn’t have that, especially at these astronomical prices, pretty much write it off. Here is the spec for Furman's cheapest SMP strip:https://www.furm...
Power amps into surge protector/Conditioner or DIRECT to wall? Final verdict?
I am a bit confused as how to compare devices for their surge protection. The Furman PST-8, using series mode surge protection, rates their product at 135VAC for the "over voltage shutoff."Right. So the SMP is always on, there’s no activation lag...
mix capacitors
Exactly which ones and which values??
Newbie looking for speakers
Parts Connexion has an awesome selection of Monitor Audio right now. :)
Soundstage disappeared!?
Hey Vista, If you turned everything off overnight for the first time in a while, this makes sense. Some equipment takes time to warm up. Some Class D amps especially take 72-100 hours to sound their best.If that's what you did, I suggest you leave...
Shunyata Triton V3 a step up or good alternative to PS Audio P15?
Maybe your room acoustics are better areas to start. What do you have? If you have bare floors, try experimenting with blankets on the floor between or behind the speakers. That will give you an idea.
Power amps into surge protector/Conditioner or DIRECT to wall? Final verdict?
The Emotiva is not a surge protector at all, and doesn't seem to offer over voltage protection either. For the money, the Furman $180 strip is better. https://amzn.to/2WtmefWBest,E
Power amps into surge protector/Conditioner or DIRECT to wall? Final verdict?
So just did some reading. Apparently not all "whole house surge protectors" are UL 1449 compliant. Some are listed as "secondary surge protectors." Meaning the manufacturer expects you to have other devices for your electronics, but at least your ...
Power amps into surge protector/Conditioner or DIRECT to wall? Final verdict?
Whole house surge protectors that are installed in the panel and made by the panel’s manufacturer are a great idea. However, since the EMP from lightning can be induced directly into wiring, it’s a good idea to put a series mode protector near the...
