Equi=Core Hum & Other Issues
Hey OP, Those testers are very very simple devices that work well only with "normal" problems. Chances are it looks for voltage on the neutral, and decides if it is there, that the voltage is inverted. It doesn't know anything about balanced power...
Equi=Core Hum & Other Issues
You could have had a bad breaker this whole time. Yes, it is possible to have DC in only 1 leg. It can happen if a power supply sucks juice only on the positive, but not the negative cycle, on the same phase. I could also see something funky if  y...
Streamers from miniDSP with built in room correction!

Upsampling
Hey @tuberist,I tried this with my Brooklyn. I did not like it at all, especially compared with original DSD files from Blue Coast. YMMV,Erik
Upsampling
Two fold.  One, the filter behavior improves, hopefully pushing any aberrations out of the audible spectrum. Second, the DAC chip itself may perform better with more data, even if that data doesn't actuall increase the content of information from ...
Separates or Integrated? What makes more sense?
Hi, Happy owner of the last new 507ux in the US here. :) Luxman really did put in a top preamp and amp in the combo. Many brands say they do, and then it is still a step down. Not true with the Luxmans. The only reason in my mind for separates in ...
It isn't the bits, it's the hardware
I realize now I did not include my own experiences for brevity. I had the chance to own simultaneously an ARC DAC 8, along with a Mytek Brooklyn. I streamed to both of them. I also used a Wyred4Sound Remedy asynchronous sample rate converter).To m...

I should point out that in the experiments I was able to do, with 2 different DACs of different ages, I exclusively used a streamer. No CD Fluttering was there. Best,E
Infinity Kappa 9, manual request.
Or, better yet, use a crossover designed 25 years later with better tools.
Do you ever have to re-break-in speakers?
If it's in the bass, then it's the drivers. If the treble opens up, the caps.

I think for sure though, highly accurate clocks have gotten dirt cheap.
It looks like a debate to me.
I stand by the intent of my original statement:Amps seem to sound more sensitive to impedance issues to me than the math otherwise suggests. Peace, @atmasphere Best,E
Voltage question
Get the step-down transformer unless you have a smart power supply.The way to tell is to read the requirements right off the device. If it says 100V and not 100-240V or something like that, you need the STD.
Infinity Kappa 9, manual request.
Consider having the crossovers re-done. They were notorious amp destroyers due to 1 ohm impedance that was not needed. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/NEW-Infinity-Kappa-7-8-9-Speaker-Crossover-Filter-Network-Kappa7-Kappa8-Kapp...

Hi @tomic601 I hate to be the spoil sport here, but I know I'm not that sensitive, and experts I trust also say this. I believe some people are very sensitive to this issue, but I've never heard a time/phase accurate speaker wow me just because of...
