Infinity RS 2.5 Speakers Description - Need help connecting wires properly on woofers Just looked at that crossover. A 2 Ohm coil in parallel with the 4 ohm? I can only imagine what the curve on that looks like. Classic Infinity. :)
How to accurately gauge speaker sensitivity to match with tube amp? OP: I wish I had a better answer for you. Ideally, keeping the impedance above 4, as well as not varying too much. You also would like to see minimal peaks. The more variation, the more the impedance curve takes command of the frequency response. ...
I'm here for the enthusiasts, not the snobbery Firstly, what does your second statement "Any motorcycle is more fun and exciting than any car." have to do with "All Porsches are ugly. Trolls do not have to explain themselves.
Will this amp trick work for increasing bass performance? Heresy below:1 - I find Pass does not so well with these speakers and low impedance. A single amp from Ayre or Luxman may do better, not to mention a host of Class D amps. 2 - If you do insist on bi-amping, consider the Vandersteen trick, and put...
Infinity RS 2.5 Speakers Description - Need help connecting wires properly on woofers First, you can't damage them by going the wrong way. By convention, the crossover goes to the positive of a woofer. That is, put a battery (+) to it and it pushes into the room. The (-) goes to ground. This is convention, but not always true. T...
How to accurately gauge speaker sensitivity to match with tube amp? The Focals though, like a lot of modern speakers, have dips in the mid-bass which can really depress the output of a tube amp. In the case of tube amps, I'd look more at the impedance curves (or minimum). 60 W is probably enough to drive them to ...
DAC upgrade suggestion @Feldmen4 Yeah, I was going to take advantage of the Mytek trade-in offer when Covid hit. :(
What integrated should I upgrade to? If you are worried about heat, switch over to the 509. :) I just read somewhere that they are less warm, which for me was a good thing. :) I went from amps that were too warm and very happy with the 507. Idle power is 86W vs. 170W for the 550.
Luxman L-509X Interesting. I went from Parasound to Luxman 507, and it was in fact getting rid of the warmth that I needed, not to mention that the Luxman has more intestinal fortitude. Basically more extended at the top and bottom with a better midrange. I'v...
What integrated should I upgrade to? You should listen to Pass, Ayre and Luxman if you can. Those three sound enough different that you are sure to have a preference.
DAC upgrade suggestion I own the Topping DX3 or something, it sits in a drawer. Try Mytek. :)
Tweeter type and brightness I'm a big fan of Monitor Audio, and that you liked them should kind of give you a hint that this kind of discussion isn't very useful. Those are either metal/ceramic domes or AMTs. :) If I understand your hearing issues correctly, the top end Mon...
Streaming: WiFi or wired?? I use WiFi, but if I could use Ethernet I would. The usual issues people have is channel congestion with neighbors. Depends on where you live and who is around you. In an apartment, getting a clear channel can be a weekly time sucker. In a home ...
I'm here for the enthusiasts, not the snobbery Dude, my crazy uncle painted an MG with a brush and latex paint. Lets talk about bad repaint.
When comparing towers to bookshelves, do you let a subwoofer into the mix? I wrote this related article, which is really about getting good bass in a room. https://speakermakersjourney.blogspot.com/2020/04/how-to-not-buy-subwoofer.htmlTo answer your question though, treat the room before listening. A good 2-way may be a... |
