Active external crossover miniDSP is the way to go today. Includes EQ capabilities.
Receiver recently repaired - Now producing fuzzy distortion in higher frequencies?? Hi OP: Is it possible you have low voltage?
To Roon or not I’ve found the Roon forums to be very responsive.I am running a Macbook Air right now as I type for the UI, no issues. I run a Linux server and Linux/Pi streamer. Same for my Android and Windows as controllers. All work fine.
To Roon or not I am enjoying the Roon music discovery a great deal, not to mention the UI. I couldn't care less about MQA, though my DAC supports it and Roon can apply EQ to it while keeping MQA. As for upsampling, with modern DAC's I haven't found a big benefit...
Hi-Pass Filter Into Amp Yep, just a simple cap will do the job for you, but I do agree that generally speaking, the normal range of HP is around 80 to 100 Hz. On the other hand, these are 1st order (6dB/ocatve) so you may need to start a little higher to get the right ef...
What is the best audiophile speaker for a tiny square room? How about the Audio Notes? Fit right in the corner.
Is it my amp or my speakers? Having too few reflections can be a problem too. :) If you get close and it sounds better, you may need some partially reflecting panels, or perhaps more bass. See how they sound very close up. If they still sound lifeless, yeah, get new speakers.
*WHITE PAPER* The Sound of Music - How & Why the Speaker Cable Matters Like @djones said there's no reflections at audio frequencies. Also: 1 . There is no clear scale used for any of the measurements. 2. The measurements and conclusions are inverted. Best,E
Is it my amp or my speakers? These speakers will sound best when you are on the woofer axis. If you are far above it you'll lose quite a bit of treble. Assuming your seat/speaker are aligned if you still have issues, sit 2’ from the speakers. If they still sound colorless, it...
Should I use long interconnects, or long speaker cables? Simplest to move everything and use long speaker cables.
Remodel causes 60Hz ground loop @fuzztonesYeah the isolation transformer may work, but if you can fix the cable TV or satellite TV cable, you avoid adding anything after the DAC.
Is the ideal multi-way a 3-way with limited bass? Hi @jamesbgoodYes, that works really really well. I’ve gotten to hear Vandersteens with the built in EQ/subwoofer and as far as I can remember, they are the ONLY full sized floor standing speaker I’ve ever heard worth a damn in a hotel room. I hav...
Remodel causes 60Hz ground loop Welcome.I should say that the test is really simple. Unplug the coaxial cable while listening to the DAC. In many cases you don't even have to be playing music because the ground loop is there as soon as the DAC is selected. Best,Erik
Remodel causes 60Hz ground loop Aha! :) So, you can use a cable TV isolator. Relatively cheap. https://amzn.to/3f6ziSGWhat probably happened is that the re-model fixed a missing safety ground. When that happened, a ground loop formed for the first time between the cable TV con...
Remodel causes 60Hz ground loop Is there a coaxial cable connection involved somewhere? From a satellite dish, or cable in? |
