Large speakers plus EQ, what have you done? Hi @toddalin - Every passive crossover is an EQ, but that’s really not what I wanted to discuss especially as most hobbyists aren’t going to mod anything about their passive crossovers. While we can, generally, adjust the speaker to the room to m...
2-way design vs. 3-way design means ? Wow. East vs. West coast sound is the answer to JBL ve Fritz. 2 or 3 way have nothing to do with it. A 3 way, properly executed, may have better off axis and dynamic range. The problems all 2 ways suffer from include having to stress the twee...
Large speakers plus EQ, what have you done? @p59teitel - Good to hear, sounds as if you had very few room issues to deal with. Lucky you!
DH Labs @evelyn1 - Yes, I should have mentioned that these are unbranded DH labs cables. Extremely good IC’s though the single wire construction makes them a little brittle. Definitely not for professional use. Neutrik has silver XLR connectors I have us...
Test tones through Qobuz, is this possible? I ripped a CD from my OmniMic, but I believe you can get some from the Room EQ Wizard forums.
Test tones through Qobuz, is this possible? Yeah, doesn't matter your source. I use Roon which lets me play from my local library where I keep my test signal tracks.
After 20 years, in the market for a power amp My limited experience with GE speakers always makes me want to pair them with excessively warm amps like Parasound.
Large speakers plus EQ, what have you done? @hk_fan - Kind of why I like Roon, which has become my only real music source. It has a very flexible and capable digital EQ section.
Do I Really Need a Dedicated Streamer? I think so. My music listening is sometimes seated, something background. Having a streamer lets me have music going without also having to have my phone/pad or whatever draining it's battery.
Large speakers plus EQ, what have you done? Also, it seems, since so many discussions about improving bass usually end up being battle royals about the various ways to apply subwoofers I wanted to see how well users who did not use subwoofers at all do, without having the other, tired argum...
Large speakers plus EQ, what have you done? @wyoboy because I’d like to know how well this combination works out in general. This will help all of us learn but also help me understand what methods work for others and not just myself. This helps me make better recommendations. Like, if it w...
Large speakers plus EQ, what have you done? Just for the record, flat measurements are only meant for anechoic and quasi anechoic situations. Harman and many others have a lot of writing available on how speakers should perform at the listening location. Actually flat at your chair sounds ...
Can someone explain the clock sync? The sync clock for digital isn't the same as the syncing to movie's 29 frames per second or TV's frame rates together such that the sound and visuals are synced. That is called SMPTE timecode. PS - Never meant to imply it was the same thing. J...
Wrapping power cords and interconnects with copper foil. Here. Just build your own correctly out of the shielded power cables. I'm a big fan of the DH Labs 14 gauge, shielded: https://partsconnexion.com/ac-power-bulk-wire-cable/
Audiovana disconnects from Qobuz after several days of nonuse Not sure if this is you, but I found that having Tidal on Roon and my phone caused Tidal to stop playing on one or the other. If you have other Qobuz devices sharing the same account I wonder if it would cause these issues? |
