ESL amplifier to feed ordinary 2-way speaker?
I actually was a rep for InnerSound, ages ago.  Besides overkill, not really.  They are pretty open sounding and rock solid amps.  My suspicion is you'll feel like your speakers have a lot more bass after switching. :)
does it need to be complicated
I've heard Klipsch heresy's driven by Rogue audio's small tube integrated and they were very very good.  Fun speakers with a lot of energy but still smooth.  Definitely not laid back chamber music type.
Single way or multiway
@bache  The whole point of the Tang Band 8" is to use them as full range speakers.  They do measure with an up tilt in frequency response so probably best listened to flat against the wall instead of toed in.  Still, we all hear differently.
Batteries are Cheap, Backup power is expensive
@larsman  - All snide comments aside, many audiophiles care about battery back up systems for one reason or another.  Either in case of a power outage or as a way of getting cleaner and more stable power than they can get from the power lines.  W...
Help deciding between two speakers.
This feels like attempting to purchase  speakers based on reviews.  It's like buying a mattress you've never slept on.  Really bad idea. Assuming you like the sound of them, the only issues with the IRS IMHO are the impedance curves were really p...

"no internet, no music"? I feel sorry for you guys.   @fatdaddy2 OK, boomer.

Actually, the warmer it gets, the less efficient solar panels are. Optimal temperature is 77 degrees Fahrenheit. After that, they lose efficiency. If that's what you're talking about!   True, but the more decentralized our power delivery syste...

@rsa777 That is a pretty sweet setup honestly.

@fatdaddy2 No Internet, no music.  This site has hundreds of discussions about networking and AC wiring.

@billpete  - Sorry I missed your post earlier.   Personally, an outdoor generator like a Generac or Kohler is out of my budget for now... but, assuming it was not they still have a 10-20 second transfer delay.  I would still need a very small UPS ...

@jwei You bring up a good point.  In 2021 the Great Texas Freeze prompted a run on Ford F-150 trucks for just such a reason.  It seems they feature from 2kW to 7.2kW inverters depending on the model.  Dealers were encouraged to loan them out, I’m ...

PS - My bad.  The Renogy unit I quoted above does NOT include a charger.  I’m rethinking that.  It seems they did have an inverter/charger but not sure if it’s discontinued.  Unfortunately fossil fuel power is not a great option.  The data closet...
How can different CAT5/6 cables affect sound.
Last post, honest. To add to this, I live in an area where power and Internet is spotty.  One or the other or both can go out.  I use Roon for streaming.   I have a light in my office which turns on when the Internet is in failover mode to my alt...
How can different CAT5/6 cables affect sound.
So, doing a little research on streaming, according to Gemini, they primarily use TCP, not UDP. As  I suspected, UDP is best used for live streaming, in cases where you would rather have the audio in real time than perfect.  Consider a video call...
