Tube Rolling Woes I would not buy tubes on Ebay unless I received a strong recommendation from someone on this forum or another similar. I have purchased tubes from Andy at Vintage Tube Services and Upscale Audio with excellent results. Brent Jesse is also highly r...
Better Records White Hot Stampers: Now the Story Can Be Told! Interesting you mention "Sports". I have an original mint pressing that I hadn't played in many years. I was in the process of cleaning all my records on my Okki Nokki and after I played "Sports" I was blown away at how good it sounded. The last t...
McIntosh C-26 Restoration @oldhyvmec It doesn't have to be an authorized McIntosh repair facility. Actually, I am near Sacramento/Citrus Heights. Are you referring to Paradyme?
What frustrates you the most about seller’s for sale ads? I've owned two different pairs of Harbeth speakers. I never took the grilles off and I would not if selling them. First, they are difficult to get off, secondly, they are voiced with the grilles on. The buyer would simply have to rely on my feedback.

If your were to assemble a vintage system ? I owned the S8900A, it was my first real piece of Hi Fi gear. It had an excellent tuner. I used to record live concerts broadcast on KSAN to my Sony RTR.
Worst Concerts You Have Attended ?? Rockadanny, Yes I agree. Some of the worst concerts I've been to were due to a bass head at the sound board which results in making vocals and the rest of the music unintelligible.
Searching for a new CD player The Rega Apollo-R is an excellent player and available used within your budget.
Technics 1200G phono recommendations The questions you ask, although valid, are open to very subjective answers. I have the 1200G and use a Pass Labs XP-15, to my ears the sound is very analog in nature. I alternate between a Cayin tube and Luxman SS integrated. Since you have a tube...
Vinyl cleaning - Ultrasonic vs. Walker products "For a few hundred bucks more, even less on the used market, get a vacuum machine system but something that does NOT have the record(s) bottom sides on a flat surface while you’re cleaning the top side. The last thing you want to do is clean one s...
Vinyl cleaning - Ultrasonic vs. Walker products I own the Okki Nokki, about $500 and it does an excellent job for a vacum cleaner. The VPI is also within your budget. The motor on the VPI is a little louder if that matters to you.
Vinyl cleaning - Ultrasonic vs. Walker products What's your budget for a RCM?
CD player reliability.... good and bad. Yes, what roxy said. I've had $500 NAD CDP's that have lasted over 10 years. I have one in my office system and another in the garage. I also have a Rega Apollo-R that's been in service over 5 years. I have a feeling that top loaders might be more...
Just how many outlets do you need for your stereo? Sorry, I couldn't resist. I use a AQ Niagara 1200. It has 7 outlets, just the right amount for my system. It is an entry level piece, but suits me fine. It replaced an older Panamax.Eric
Can I place outdoor screen over air vents on top of my amplifier vs. dust/hair entering? When not in use,I cover my amps with dust covers from Stan at radio dust covers. He makes a quality product and can sew in the manufacturers logo if wanted.https://radiodustcovers.com/ |
