Solid State Power Amps
I’ve used McIntosh MC 611 600 W mono amps. I think a pair goes for 15,000. In the solid state world these amplifiers perform extremely well. And amplifier is reliable. If I was planning to spend more money I would definitely pursue a tube amplif...

@facten  I believe in miracles don’t you?
YouTube star Jay loves McIntosh MC 901 amplifier
I’m infatuated by the MC 901. Jay facilitates my passion and I greatly admire his energy and interest in the very best. If he begins to pursue tubes I think his Channel Will skyrocket. Within two years I predict he will have 1 million listeners an...
YouTube star Jay loves McIntosh MC 901 amplifier
So Jay’s out with another video about this amplifier. Still loves the amplifier. Don’t understand why he doesn’t clean the front Chrome panel in the front because it’s all smudged up. It could look a heck of a lot better Do it with A microfiber ...
McIntosh tube upgrade - worthwhile?
As a reminder this thread is about whether tubes on a Macintosh amp makes sense to change. It's not a marketing opportunity to sell tubes. It may turn out that it doesn't really matter what tubes you use in a McIntosh amplifier.  The amplifier s...
McIntosh tube upgrade - worthwhile?
@wbs  Thanks I looked for it and actually ordered it. Any chance you could share what might've been said about amplifiers effect tubes and anything else about the depth of info they go in to about McIntosh amplifier.
McIntosh tube upgrade - worthwhile?
It’s strange but why is McIntosh and inclined to tell people stock power cords and stock tubes are not worth upgrading. Most manufacturers sell mediocre tubes and power cords along with their equipment because they know people are going to upgrade...
Tube preamp topologies and music
So much commentary on single ended 300 B tubes and low wattage amplifiers. @jasonbourne71 has some outstanding commentary but requires great expertise to really understand things. My take away is that you risk higher distortion when you have lo...

Recommendations for really well-recorded music for high-end audio system demo
Does this forum offer a means for posters to share their playlists? Lots of great suggestions here. Can links be done directly to qobuz for these songs? YouTube links are really cool to see. So many wonderful videos on YouTube with great sound qua...
Gain Setting impact on AV processor DSP Quality?
So what you mean is volume is changed when the amplitude changes. I always thought gain was different from volume. It's more of a voltage change to the signal which leads to distortion if you increase it too much. Lots of people confuse gain and...
why expensive streamers
Lumin x1 streamer/dac is awesome.  I had a separate dac but I found integrating it with a streamer at least in this component was a great idea.  It also has an optical connection.  And a separate power supply which I think is really nice to have. ...
Audio Research versus McIntosh tube amps: anyone experience or compare both?
I'd be concerned about maintenance on an audio research product longer-term. Would recommend buying from a dealer if used.  McIntosh is reliable and built like a tank and sounds really good and is not midfi.  Would encourage you to get better tube...
Gain Setting impact on AV processor DSP Quality?
@blisshifi  Thank you for another awesome response. Are you equating gain with volume?   I always view gain and volume separate but many people tend to say gain when they mean volume.
Gain Setting impact on AV processor DSP Quality?
@blisshifi Awesome comment actually learned a few things. A lot more going on Beyond just comparing curves I guess. Although do the curves in themselves highlight these things in anyway. The timing between speakers which I guess is influenced by...
