How many hours weekly do you listen to your system
Great thread. I'd almost like to see a poll breaking it down into tube vs. ss users, and analog vs digital time.My guess is that users like me who are tube and mostly analog listen less, since tubes's aren't always as condusive to leaving on all d...
acoustic system resonators
Since I have to take apart my system tomorrow for my building to jackhammer through our floor, I also want to take my Resonators down off the wall. If I have time I'll try to do a quick listen with the Resonators then without them.I've liked the r...
If you started over what would you do differently?
Most of my regrets are software related.I bought too many LP's that were doubles (MFSL) or just any MFSL that came into the stores where i used to shop around 1990 eventhough I didnt care for the music. I know they have some slight value above wha...
What are the treasures in your vinyl library?
Intersting that Ghosthouse mentioned Laurie Anderson's Mr. Hearbreak.I have a Quiex version of that that I have not played in probably years.A friend recently came over to hear my new Raven One table and asked to hear Mr. Heartbreak. We were shock...
whistling in the ears
My tinnitus was caused I believe by taking Prilosec many years ago when it was still perscription. I didn't even realize the relationship until I read on a site about acid reflux some people had the reaction that never went away. Years later I rec...
Musicophilia - music & relationship to the brain
I have often felt that we audiophiles clearly must have something uncommon going on in our chemical or neuronal makeup to care so much for getting as close as possible to the original event. For most people I think the experience of hearing a fanta...
Favorite reviewer?
I think audio reviewers should be treated like rock stars, have groupies, hot women (or men if that's their style) waiting outside audio shows to try and bed them, lunch with dignitaries, save the planet with Bono, etc At least that's how it would...
new WHo Amazing Journey DVD - analog galore
I might have to check this one out. Although it hard for me to even listen to The Who anymore.I never would have thought one of my favorite bands as a kid would turn into pedophile used car salesman ticket scalpers with no respect for thier own de...
Grand Prix Monaco review in new Stereophile- OUCH
Good thing I included the word "ouch" in the subject if this thread.Michael, have you listened to the Phantom without damping fluid? There seems to be a US vs. Europe attitude towards the fluid.Folks here practically called my dealer lazy for not i...
I have just purchased the latest Sound Lab M1
This has turned into quite a great discussion with two luminary amp designers.
Favorite reviewer?
I like Fremer. He clearly has come under fire for his Monaco review, but he sticks to his guns. No one is perfect. I dont think I woul dhave nearly as thick a skin as some of these guys have to. I also Like the 6 Moons folks.
Pure Vinyl Software
Mike Freemer in the Monaco thread I stated that the CD's he makes from his turntable sound better than the storebought CD release. Several record label people have heard his CD's and coomented their were better than thier releases.A good mp3 of a ...
Good impedance match for Atma-Sphere MP3?
JT - I have a brouchure that came with my recent MA1's that lists the MP-1 pre is remote controllable. In talking with the factory, they are working on getting it done, (at least in the MP-1, not sure about MP-3) I believe an MP-1 will have to go ...
Your Favorate JBL's from the 70's
As a young teenage audiophile I used to drool over 4311's, but couldn't afford them at the time. (Anyone know their original street cost?) I had to settle for the pair of Pioneer HPM100's I had, which a friend who did eventually get a used 4311, u...
How much does your system retail for?
Wow Cajun, that is horrible you were wiped out in Katrina. A year ago a small plane hit my building and though we had some water damage and had to move out for a month, luckily my gear and LP's were spared. (and I had just gotten new speakers I wa...
