Clement Perry's new reference speaker
I took Greg (who I never met before) up on his offer to hear his system, since a friend (who's quite critical) heard Clement's system was extremely impressed. I brought some of my reference CD cuts, and was quite impressed with the speaker's quali...
Revel Salon 2 versus WP 8
I heard the Salon 2 this week at a dealer driven with Levinson gear. Unfortunately they kept the grills on, which probably killed the imaging.I was quite impressed even so. I thought they had loads of inner midrange detail and the bass was quite e...
How did you get into vinyl?
As a soon to be 6 year old in 1964, I requested Let It Be for my birthday. In '71 I bought the Concert for Bangadesh at the local Korvettes for something like $13 - my older brother and father thought I was nuts for having bought such an expensive...
Size matters...need smaller speakers
I'm a little confused. Looking at your system pictures, it doesn't seem like the speakers are *that* crowded or close to the back walls. It seems like a fairly typical non dedicated room where the speakers have 2-3 feet around them. Have you heard...
CES Day 1 Photo Gallery
Great shots - I just looked through all 3 days - glad you took images of THE Show - I gotta go to CES at least one time.
Vandersteen 5a vs. B&W 802D vs. Maggie 3.6 vs.?
Telescope - If you have the PS Audio gaincell preamp, and you like it (please comment on it)- you should consider geting the external power supply if you can find one (its discontinued) Or better yet have Rick Cullen mod the power supply and put r...
Vandersteen 5a vs. B&W 802D vs. Maggie 3.6 vs.?
I just heard the 5A's this week in a great setup. They were very musical and I believe would yield alot of enjoyment across a wide range of music and recordings. I liked the biamp concept where you put ahigh pass line filter in to ease up the burd...
Differences in electric outlets
I just wish that it was possible to put R1's in the PS Audio Powerplant Premier.I think I was told at the time it was not possible, but I'll have to contact Rick the guy that designs and mods some of the PS gear.I think that would make an ultimate...
The best speaker you ever heard?
Deadly,Did you actually get to hear these, and if so can you comment some more.I am really strongly leaning towards them. I talked with a recent purchaser (Bill Powell) who commented briefly about the speakers, but he is probably in listening heav...
Clement Perry's new reference speaker
2 friends of mine have heard Clement's system. Both are extremely critical of system, and both liked it. One said it was about the best he had heard. However Clement is using powerful room correcttion and would not play the system without the corre...
Differences in electric outlets
Putting in an Oyaide R1 and 04 (I think these are the #'s) In place of a standard socket and Hubbel male made a huge improvement.
Matt Savage 15 year old Pianist genius
Thanks for the link - I'm listening to this right now. I really like Marion Mcpartland;s show - ever heard Becker and Fagan on her show?
Is RIAA equalisation enough for Phono Stages?
To add to the confusion - what about the Soundsmith Strain Gage?It doesn't have RIAA at all - but accomplishes it another way. From what I readit is about 1db off from RIAA, but the results people are getting seem to be great.

Not too long ago I went from a very respectable table setup that was tweeked to sound much better than stock.I went to a Raven One/Graham Phantom (using the same cart I had on the old table). A fanastic analog front end is the best purchase I coul...
