Do you all agree when Prince said the 60s, 70s and 80s were the golden ages of music?
Adding my 2 cents on the topic (which is about what it’s worth), there are studies that show that the music people listen to in adolescence has the strongest pull for them. So it makes sense for us to see these kind of opinions. I sometimes joke w...
Liquid stylus cleaner without solvent
This seems like a great thread for Peter Lederman to comment on, since he has probably seen it all in his work.  Can’t recall if anyone has pointed out the possibility of liquid migration up the cantilever, to the suspension.I’m pretty guilty of n...
Turntable isolation platform Recommendations?
Off topic, but I couldn’t help respond to  myjostyn (Jim?) comment.  I also run a C4S - a Targa from 2010 with the hatchback that makes the car practical for work or a Costco run.  I recently had the entire car wrapped in paint protection film aft...
Turntable isolation platform Recommendations?
I know probably very few people want to hear this but active vibration cancellation platforms like Halcyonics are a revelation to vinyl playback.  It works exactly like the scanning electron microscope before and after images shown to illustrate h...
Raven vs. Verdier La Platine
I used to use open reel leader tape when I was running my raven one, to good effect. Are the Raven One’s still in demand? I have one sitting in a box with no arm that I have to decide to get up and running with a new arm or sell it. Can’t decide a...
Spring-Loaded Screw Turns Drywall Into Sound-Absorbing Panels

What room treatment product have transformed your room or audio system?
I’m not sure exactly what I’m getting at, but a friend used to host a series of live acoustic jams in his good sized apartment. They got fantastic musicians and David Grisman even showed up and played at one. I used to use those events to fine tun...
Dedicated AC line - Contractor wants to use BX instead of romex
Thanks for all the replies so far (except that nasty one).   In doing some research it seems BX (named for the Bronx, where it was invented) is required in buildings like mine (over 3 stories). So any suggestions on a particular metal clad cable to...
Dedicated AC line - Contractor wants to use BX instead of romex
Contractor said that mice or rats can eat through romex, which didn't concern me.    I'll have to find out what local NYC code is.
Power regenerator vs conditioner
Since I’m a hobbiest drummer I only buy power conditioners designed by other drummers. That leaves me very little choice... drummer/ power designer Garth Powell. Seriously though, in my main system (TAD CR1’s /BHK300/Atma MP1) I use the Garth’s Ni...
What room treatment product have transformed your room or audio system?
NMM thanks for mentioning ASC Isotherm. I have been looking at them for quite some time. seems like a good advance. I did get to hear a demo room using active bass cancellation as the last NY Audio show, which I’ve always wondered about, but stupi...
has anybody else noticed this about flac audio?
I haven’t read this whole thread but I have been screaming for years that flac does not sound as good as AIF or WAV.  However if I uncompress the flac to WAV it sounds better (Directstream dac fed via Ethernet).   WAV also sounds a tiny bit better...

velodyne dd plus? still considered best of the best?
I posted in another thread that Velodyne has sold its sub line to another company, so hopefully we’ll see some service available soon. I love my pair of DD10 plus, though the remote sensor seems to be less responsive lately. The nice thing is not ...
