Let’s start with: how heavy are your speakers? Heavy? Perhaps wheels!  Of course spikes make sense theoretically, but why sacrifice flexibility (alternate toe-in, alternate locations) for theory if you don't benefit from the theory.I've always ha...
16 ohm speakers: any amp sounds better with more resolution. speaker cables less critical.

Amp to power surround channels for MUSIC ONLY
What is your objective?Where/what are you getting the 5 (or 5.1) signals from?Back in the day, several amps and receivers had a 'derived center' output, for a center speaker. IOW, it created it's own center info (not you or your source).
TUBE BIAS, socket to me!
How about I make myself a long wooden stick/screwdriver instead of plastic. Wood safe?
TUBE BIAS, socket to me!
Well now, I like the KT88’s more than the 6550’s, difference was obvious, as obvious as switching from Triod mode to preferrable ultra-linear mode.I assumed all the difference was entirely in the tubes.Seller told me he had it’s bias adjusted just...
Pure tube phono preamp
OP,Not to be against your original idea which I have no recommendation for, just to clarify:You seem to be both tempted by and concerned about separate SUT. I was too. I avoided MC for many years, because of noise of early pre-pre transformers. Th...

Inexpensive MM Cartridge
Seems like a good choice, it's a wonderful feeling to move on. For others following: The elliptical have the advantage of succeeding with less than perfect alignment. That is a reason they are good choice for someone without tools and skills. Ma...
So That's Where my Hazelnuts Went!
What the heck is wrong with your cat? Not doing it's job! Doesn't like the sound of the KEFs?

Another reason to avoid ports.I lived in an old gatehouse built in 1888. No insulation in the walls. Chirp, chirp, getting fainter chirp right at ear level behind the sofa. Wife a real soft touch, me too I must admit.Cut a hole, pulled out a baby ...
How old is your cartridge?
Deteriorated Suspension: I was concerned, decided not to buy a used MC cartridge primarily because of suspension concerns.I got surprisingly lucky with my 20 year old/hardly used AT440ML, I was expecting to experience problems.I have a shop light ...
Does Anyone Think CD is Better Than Vinyl/Analog?
I have owned and listened to a heck of a lot of music since 1960, age 12. Inherited quality equipment and began focused listening 1973, 47 years.ago.My system: same music, all 3 formats: everybody picks LP over CD, and everybody picks R2R over LP....
