Why does my Adcom GFA-2535 blow fuses?
Bridging the amp means that the 8 ohm speaker (is it really 8 ohms) looks like a 4 ohm load to each side of the stereo amp. This ought to be OK.Are you sure the speakers are 8 ohms? Are you sure the fuses are the correct value?

Upsampling. Truth vs Marketing
Bombaywalla...It's an interesting question about whether the world is, at its heart, digital or analog. The electrical signal, regarded as analog, actually consists of discrete packets of charge, called electrons. The human sense of hearing is imp...
Upsampling. Truth vs Marketing
More corrections! They don't affect the basic idea, but could easily confuse people. Sorry about that. Hopefully this is it.If the waveform is sampled at a frequency four times that which corresponds to the uniform time spacing of the example, (44...
Upsampling. Truth vs Marketing
Since Sean has confessed his error, I will do the same. My explanation actually showed a ramping signal of 3 units in four samples. While this was not incorrect, it is not consistent with the analog signal that I assumed at the beginning. The foll...
16 ohm speakers: Pros & cons
Gregm...A third advantage of 16 (or 32) ohm speakers is that lower gauge speaker wire can be used. This is a big factor if you are running 100 feet or more for some kind of a public performance, but would also apply to shorter audiophile cables.
Upsampling. Truth vs Marketing
Pabelson...I guess you mean that if the sine wave frequency is EXACTLY one half the sampling frequency, a sync situation exists. OK. Change the sampling frequency enough so that the phasing of the sine wave drifts across the sampling interval. Pic...
16 ohm speakers: Pros & cons
Audiokinesis...You made a bunch of changes to your speaker system, so it's not definite that the improvement was due to the amp performing better with higher impedance. My review of amp specs shows that 4 ohm and 8 ohm distortion specs are the sam...
is interconnect more important than speaker cable
Dealer markup on cables is more than on speakers. This is fair, because it takes a lot more hype to sell them.
16 ohm speakers: Pros & cons
Compared with and 8 ohm speaker, a 16 ohm speaker requires that the amplifier put out twice the VOLTS for a given power, because it draws half the amps. Solid state amps are limited by the volts they can output...within reason (and until a fuse po...
Upsampling. Truth vs Marketing
Pabelson...According to Nyquist, just two (error free) samples per cycle will perfectly recover a sine wave. But, in this error-prone nonsinusoidal world, where I played with digital data stream representations of analog waveforms (non audio), exp...
1st,2nd,3rd order crossovers,etc
The 4th order Linkwitz is particularly well suited to line level electronic crossovers (but overly complex and costly for a passive crossover). Apart from that, every variation of crossover has its advocates, and detractors. Some say that a 0th or...
High speed internet via electrical power lines
For info see....www.global-instruments.com.I have suggested that audiophiles might like to use this device to test their AC power conditioning equipment.
power amplifiers with ICEpower module
An alternate to the ICE module is the TriPath module, for which, unlike ICE, there is a good bit of technical info available on the web. Naturally, the TriPath folk say their approach is best, as do the ICE folk. IMHO it probably depends on what y...
High speed internet via electrical power lines
Repeating something I have noted before...I bought and installed a device that deliberately puts pulses on the power lines which supposedly keeps mice out of your walls. (So far I think this really does work, and it is based on some solid research...
