How to get multichannel sound from a CD? Calanctus...All the matrix multichannel schemes involved out-of-phase signal being emphasized in the rear channels, and deemphasized in the fronts, with the exact ratios varying somewhat between systems. The SQ LP system also involved some plus an...
What are the best subwoofer plate amps.... The Bryston amp is a full range regular power amp. This is more than you need for a subwoofer. For a subwoofer power amp high frequency response is unnecessary. Only slowly changing voltage will be amplified. For a subwoofer power amp, a very low le...
balance and single ended what I heard Balanced interfaces is a different subject than complementary circuit topography. There is nothing wrong with generating a balanced line output interface out of non-complementary circuitry so as to exploit the merits of that kind of interface. The...
balance and single ended what I heard 1. The advantages of a balanced interface are significant for long runs in an electromagneticly noisy environment. You probably don't have this situation.2. Are you sure that your balanced wires are actually functioning in balanced configuration? ...
How to get multichannel sound from a CD? What we are talking about is "matrix multichannel". With most any surround decoding system, Dolby, DTS, etc. signal that is out of phase between the two channels goes to the rear speakers. This is very damatic if you play a Test rrecording that ha...
Anyone hear the Caravelle speaker and not like it? "natural..carded wool" is certainly a plus. But, are the sheep organically raised, and bred by natural insemination?
For Magnepans try the "Rooze" comfiguration Bose 901 revisited. I'm not sure what turning them around does since they radiate both ways. You can get some funny effects from Maggies. Try setting them up in normal manner, but then sitting directly in between the speakers. If you get your head ...
Anyone hear the Caravelle speaker and not like it? Warrenh...Agreed that this is America, and people can charge whatever other people are willing to pay. Just the same, the information about the modest guts of the Caravelles is of interest, if only to encourage the many people who can't afford the...
Anyone hear the Caravelle speaker and not like it? Gendut3...I think that a "$39 Peerless and $27 Seas" with the right enclosure and crossover might sound good, and I bet that a few people have already put their orders in to Madisound. It's the price that seems out of line. But as I said before "i...
tube amplifier auto bias- accurate? Atmasphere...Your comments are worth at least 4 cents. One final comment...the demise of self biased tube operation relates to the development of inexpensive solid state diode rectifiers. In the bad old days, generation of an additional dc voltage ...
tube amplifier auto bias- accurate? Albertporter...Setting bias just at turnon would seem to be a problem for amps that are left on all the time. Also, if the amp is turned on and off, one would expect the settings to change somewhat as the amp warms up, so that a reset procedure, s...
tube amplifier auto bias- accurate? Tubes108...In military equipment that I worked on we had a similar situation.... we were adjusting amplitude and phase of an AC power supply to account for variables of the load. The way to do it is to run the adjustment process until the paramete...
Volume level mystery - can you solve it? Bigtee...On some balanced equipment (I have some) the use of unbalanced connection is sensed, and the gain adjusted accordingly. I have one piece that is unbalanced in, and balanced out, but unity gain through the piece is assured by this feature.
Need better sound from my records, where to start? The Shure M97xE "don't get no respect" because everyone focuses on the V15xMR. The M97 is no slouch, and real real cheap.
Anyone hear the Caravelle speaker and not like it? Pal...It probably means that he doesn't like ported speakers, and this is one potential problem he can cite about them. I suggest that you listen for yourself. By the way I prefer sealed speakers myself, but it's your nickle. |
