There Ought To Be A Law, Or At Least A Rule
Onhwy61...Maybe so. But note that I mentioned the numerous favorable comments that often follow the initial posting.
There Ought To Be A Law, Or At Least A Rule
Sometimes I wonder if such postings are not a promotional device. The follow-up postings are usually an explanation of why there was difficulty contacting the manufacturer, plus praise for the fine product. Many times this is all about an outfit t...
15" vs 18" subwoofer - which to buy?
If it is a question of 2 smaller subs vs one larger one, I absolutely agree with Rives. The recommendation for large cone area assumes that cost is not the deciding factor (which I admit may be unrealistic unless you are building the subs yourself...
15" vs 18" subwoofer - which to buy?
I think that for LF, and especially for SW, the more cone area the better, although, as Sean says, there are other imnportant considerations. The large cone area is not to play louder. It is to play with the proper loudness without need for extrem...
Behringer DEQ2496 - wow
Maril555...A XLR connector can be used for a single ended (unbalanced) signal. My DEQ2496 are single ended in. The unit detects whether the input and/or output is balanced or unbalanced, and adjusts gain to compensate.Sean...The graph that comes w...
Is SACD a dead format?
Sean...Why did you look for discs in Best Buy? Go to acousticsounds.com, elusivediscs.com, or the other places that do carry a good selection.
Behringer DEQ2496 - wow
Smeyers...The internal A/D and D/A are fine IMHO. To check this out, set the EQ flat, and then compare the EQ output using Bypass mode of the unit. Of course having the option of digital in and out is nice if it suits your system. But, you might c...
Is SACD a dead format?
Fatparrot...I don't think you need to worry about 16 bit masters. Recording and mixing has been done using at least 24 bits for as long as I remember...back to the digitally mastered LP times.
The worlds ultimate toy
The closer one is nice too.
Step-Up or Not to Step-Up: This is the Question
You are lucky to have a "Loudness" control on your amp. It is working properly, as you describe it. This is essential if you ever listen at low volume. However, it does require that the regular volume control be in a normal range, not cranked up a...
Behringer DEQ2496 - wow
I posted a review on the DEC2496. It worked so well for the front channels of my multichannel system, that I bought a second one for the rears.IMHO, this unit is an example of how pro sound equipment, at reasonable cost, is rapidly approaching hig...
Is SACD a dead format?
Anything Redbook can do, DVDA can do better. Because it's the same darned PCM format but with more bits and faster sampling. This is not to say that every DVDA is recorded and mastered well enough for the improvement to be evident. SACD comparison...
Help - I've got an Ocean in my Phono Stage
Does anyone remember the Judy Collins recording of "Farewell to Tiwathie" (or some such spelling). That cut was one of the best for a matrix multichannel system. The background to her unaccompanied voice is recorded whale "songs", and the whales s...
Balanced to RCA or Opposite
Rwwear...If you demo'd the DEQ2496 it would sell itself. Most Behringer equipment is aimed at the live music pro sound market, but this unit has serious audiophile applications.
Help - I've got an Ocean in my Phono Stage
An open circuit on the input to the phono preamp may permit noise. Try shorting the input to the preamp, and see if what the noise level is. If the noise persists the phono preamp is faulty. If it goes away, recheck the phono pickup wiring. If sea...
