Multi-channel vs 2 channel SACD; difference? All multichannel SACD discs include a separate area of the disc which has a stereo mix of the program, but still in the DSD digital format. Some SACD discs only have a stereo program. Hybrid SACD discs have a separate "layer", which is read by a d...
ICEpower Digital Switching Amps? Justin_time...Thanks for a sensible discussion. I would really like to see a "white paper" with technical details on the various deficiencies of the ICE modules, and ways to correct them. In particular I am puzzled by the reported need for a robus...
H2O Owner Survey ? Ar_t..."reportedly" better was based on reviews of the 500 and 1000 watt eAR amps. I haven't heard either, yet. Am trying to decide what to buy. You say "different". Which do you like?
Learning about my room and my sound.. Newbee...Yes I used the Rives disc, but only briefly because I got myself a spectrum analyer that is much easier to use. I don't recall the problem you mention, but I will put the disc on again and look for it. I will also look (with the analyser)...
Learning about my room and my sound.. Rives audio sells a test disc which has tracks that are corrected for the Radio Shack meter error. If you use the RS meter, this is the disc to use.
CD...then the SACD...all over again Newbee...I intended to comment about both being overpriced, not the difference. I suppose that a Hybrid SACD, with two layers, is harder to make, and would logically cost a bit more. Manufacture of a CD costs, I've read, less than a buck, and most...
CD...then the SACD...all over again The real question is why does the CD cost $15, and the SACD $25.
Idiotic Vertical Biamping Question Creeper...If everyone agreed about everything all the time the discussion would become very boring. How can you get so worked up about semantics? Resort to personal insults usually results from a weak argument.
RCA to XLR adapters… I second the recommendation for A2Zcables.com.
Idiotic Vertical Biamping Question Jeffreybehr...I always heard that connecting two power amp outputs in parallel was a NO-NO. Frankly, I never tried it, as the caution seems reasonable.Creeper...The "industry standard" when I started biamping in the mid 50's always involved a low ...
Center channel question? Kr4...Optimum voice intelligibility has been extensively researched for applications like air traffic control communications and alarm annunciators, and is achieved with limited bandwidth and shaped frequency response so extreme that no HT theatre...
Center channel question? For a music system the center channel speaker is most important, and should equal or exceed the performance of the others. However, for movies, the center channel is used for dialog, and dialog is more intelegible from a speaker with relatively na...
RCA to XLR adapters… The neatest solution is to have an unbalanced interconnect made up with RCA on one end and XLR (wired unbalanced) on the other end. No adapters.
Idiotic Vertical Biamping Question I object to the term "biamping" when the amps are not fed hi and lo frequency signals from an electronic crossover!! How about "dualamping".My experience with bridging has been good. When you bridge a stereo amp one channel is using an out of phas...
Where do you find new music? Although FM radio is sometimes helpful, I often buy music based on the artist, the composer, and similarity to recordings that I already have and like. For example, if I like one Mozart Symphony performance by a particular conductor and orchestra,... |
