I've heard and seen the Technics 1200G and yes it looks and feels much better in real life. I haven't heard anything else and likely won't be able to. I'm in a position to get a new G for 2,5k, it's an open box about 1 month old. Alternatively, I ...

Just heard Cherkassky playing Rachmaninoff's Variations on the theme of Paganini. Wow. Never heard an interpretation like that. Is this type of playing considered outdated? I've heard sofronitsky play in a similar fashion. Whatever they play sound...

I've been obsessed with Schubert for the past 7-8 months. I'm completely in love with his music. I've found many a great pianist, including Volodos, Lupu etc. Recently discovered Shura Cherkassky. There are ample recordings on Tidal and Qobuz. You...
mcintosh c2600 and ma6600 question
I sold my ma6600 for 3k here. If you’re buying brand new Mcintosh from a dealer you should get at least 15% off MSRP, at absolute minimum. If I was in your situation, I’d go for an all tube system and a preamp without a dac (c22, c70) you won’t re...

twoleftears: I've been listening to Vadym Kholodenko today. Excellent technique and tone. I'm impressed with his fortitude to continue playing after suffering an unimaginable tragedy in life. Have you heard his Petruchka?

The set I’m referring to is on Tidal. It’s different than the 1979 BBC recording. https://www.amazon.com/Richter-Plays-Schubert-Live-Moscow/dp/B074511WM8/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=richter+...I thought this review was accurate This is pure Desert Island ...
mcintosh c2600 and ma6600 question
Depends on your speakers. If you’re going the tube route then why not go fully tube and get a tube preamp as well. I’d go for the new C70 or C2600. A C22 would be a nice match to mc275, buy I think they discontinued the line. Whats does the rest o...

Richter plays Schubert live in Moscow. A 10 hour marathon of Schubert's sonatas. I fell asleep with my headphones. Surprisingly good sonics for such an old recording. Has anyone heard this set? Jcazador: I enjoyed gavrilov film on youtube, thank y...
mcintosh c2600 and ma6600 question
separates definitely sound better, but I wish I kept the ma6600 for my other system, it was a sweet sounding amp
mcintosh c2600 and ma6600 question
Low end totally collapsed, upper bass became muddy, soundstage narrowed and overall sweetness disappeared. When I connected to to MC452 there was a noticeable improvement in all areas and markedly improved from ma6600 when it was used as an integr...
