CD Player Modifications. Is it worth the ?
CORRECTION TO SEAN'S LAST POST. He is taking words completely out of context regarding Stan Warren's statements. I speak to Stan over 40 times a year, and he has never made a statement like: " the modified Pioneer will not have the bass impact, bo...
Question for users of bare wire ends speaker cable
Sean: It's good to see that you're trying to understand people's views and learn from them. I guess I just interpreted your threads as being very defensive. Perhaps a statement saying something like : "good point, I never thought about it that way...
Monitor speakers for Plinius 8200
AV Reality Avinci Ones or Studios. I just dropped my pair of Avinci "Ones" off at a high end reviewer"s house last week for evaluation, and now he won't give them back to me! They are that good.
CD Player Modifications. Is it worth the ?
Toss the NAD (or at least sell it used). A modified Pioneer from Stan Warren is only $400 complete with mod, and it will run circles around a modded NAD. It's in a compeltely different league.
Would the Audio Aero Capitole better Theta
Thetas are way over rated for what they cost. This company made a name for itself way back when there wasn't much competition in ultra high end digital. Now I would buy an MSB before I'd buy a Theta....in fact....that's exactly what I did!
Question for users of bare wire ends speaker cable
Just for the record: I don't prescribe to the notion that a cables' sound can be characterized by electrical equations. You are very right that you CANNOT do an experiment with resistors, capacitors and inductors to mimic a cable. One major reason...
Question for users of bare wire ends speaker cable
I and others have done identical comparisons with cables which we designed that measure the same but have different size conductors. Yes you are right Sean, there is a DEFINITE difference in sound. Here is where you are incorrect though; You are a...
Need help choosing a monitor
Just to be clear to everyone sending me emails, I do not own AV Reality Studios at this tome. (Please re-read my thread, it's very clear). I currently own the AV Reality "Avinci One" monitors, and am so damn impressed by them, that I have no probl...
Need help choosing a monitor
I've received quite a few emails today from others wanting to know AV Reality's website address. Here it is: http://www.av-reality.com/index.htm
Question for users of bare wire ends speaker cable
Correction to my last post: I meant to say: "personal friends with the designer of Kimber's first cable"
Question for users of bare wire ends speaker cable
Sean: Karls, Bomarc and Bishopwill have some very good points regarding "skin effect" and other electrical claims. As an Electrical Engineer myself who is personal friends of Kimber's first cable (not Kimber), along being involved with some realis...
Need help choosing a monitor
As far as I'm concerned there is one monitor that stands above the rest: the AV Reality Studio. I've been in high end audio for over 20 years and have never seen such a value. This monitor has the same driver compliment as the $9500 Krell monitor,...
feedback on modified icon
Sugarbrie as usual is dead on regarding his comment on the Modified Pioneer DVD player from Stan Warren. Just this week I strongly suggested to Stan to RAISE his prices. Unfortunately, too many audiophiles are not realizing what he gives them for ...
Rock and Roll System
This is the system you should consider if horns are a little crude for your taste: Dunlavy IVa, V or VI (depending on your budget), with Dunlavy's companion tower subwoofers. The TSW IV addition alone, with its 8 high end woofers is one hell of an...
Whats the best Small speaker thats cheap
If you can get your speakers at least 18" away from the walls I suggest the Sound Dynamics RTS-3. At $200 new, it's a steal!
