Mc 2301 amps
@richardallred You won't notice the heat.  Even if you do, you won't care because of the state of audio bliss you will enter.  The C2300 with MC2301s will rock your world.  To make the most of the combo, I'd suggest you also consider upgrading you...
The Sad State of Movie Theater Sound Systems
As kijanki noted, theaters are largely automated now, and many of the settings are done by set-up techs that are not on-site.  I ran into a similar problem when I went to see Rush in Toronto.  They started running a kiddie movie and ended up havin...
Blu-Ray vs. MFSL CD
I have an original MFSL gold CD, MFSL standard vinyl and the UHQR, all purchased new back in the day.  The CD is good, but not great IMO.  The recording seems to suffer from being digitized, at least in comparison to the vinyl copies.  Probably be...
Fixing up Pioneer PL-115 Belt Drive TT
Chances are pretty good the motor is sticky from old oil & dust accumulation.  Easy enough to clean with DeOxit then lubricate with a light oil.  Needle Doctor and similar retailers carry oils, belts, cleaners and other parts.  After that's do...
Rogers Studio 1 Monitor
@joehernandez509 Falcon Acoustics can provide tweeters, mids and rebuild the crossovers.  Some cosmetic parts may be available, too.  If you cook the woofer, they're toast from what Falcon told me.  Falcon can be reached via http://www.falconacous...
Ortofon Cadenza Black Vs A90
If you like the XV-1S and TKR, also look for an XX2 Mk II.  You should be able to find that new at your budget without too much trouble.  It has a slightly higher output (0.3mV) than the TKR, so may be more similar to the A90 or XV-1S in your rig....
How to clean vinyl records
You will definitely run into an issue with the label if it is uncoated or not fully adhered.  Even coated labels don't particularly like getting wet.  At a minimum, it will almost certainly spot.My personal preference has always been an old-school...
Vintage SS repair shop near Cleveland/Columbus/Detroit?
@2psyop Thanks, I'll give them a try.  I'd contacted a guy a little closer to my location from the old Audio Craft operation in Cleveland, but he won't give me a phone number.  Doesn't inspire confidence.@jl35 Appreciate the follow-up, but GR is j...
Anyone Demo the McIntosh MX122?
I demoed the MX121 while I was in the process of getting my power amp, thinking I could kill 2 birds with one stone.  The multichannel processor was superb and I found the user interface fairly intuitive, but I didn't care for how it handled 2 cha...
McIntosh MC302 Power Amp Review
Thanks for sharing your experience.  It tracks very closely to mine.  I did find that going from RCA to the balanced inputs made a substantial difference.  The noise floor is so low now that every note rides on a background of absolute black silen...
Speaker for Mcintosh MC 30
Good advice above.  You could also look for a pair of original Klipsch Hereseys.  Good luck & happy listening!

looking at mcintosh pre-amp c2500. Can I do better for the cost of a Mac?
You won't be disappointed, @macandtosh.  Make sure to give it 75 hours or so of use before you consider any serious changes to tubes or the rest of your system.  It will take at least that long to fully break in and start warming up in a reasonabl...
looking at mcintosh pre-amp c2500. Can I do better for the cost of a Mac?
+1 to joeinid & mesch.  The C2500 is a superb preamp, especially if you want one of the very best MC phono sections and a top end 32 bit 192 kHz DAC all in one unit.  But do you really need that?  Yes, it's pricey, and there is a lot of stuff ...
