Myrtle wood under TT
Blueranger, given the price of the myrtle wood cubes, it doesn't make sense not to try them. We're talking about $30 at the most.I can't tell you how something is going to sound in your system and neither can anyone else! Let your ears be your guid...
My LP couldn't beat my CD, until now
tvad, I think that when we're on our death beds, the issue of turntables(DD vs belt drive)or whatever will be the last thing on our minds. It ain't that serious!Folks are just expressing their opinions and opinions are like noses everybody has one.
My LP couldn't beat my CD, until now
Lloyddc, my point was and still is that the technics 1200 is not a highend table!!I'm quite aware that there are tables that have been specially made for folks with deep pockets both direct drive and belt drive but again are comparing apples to ap...
Whic CD player would you pick and why
Pbrennan, I think you mean Audio Research CD-7.
ARC LS26 performance for $2500-3000?
I agree with Bobgates, the LS-2B mkII is a sleeper of a preamp but it is not in the same league as the LS-26, not even close. I've had the LS-2, LS-15, LS-16mkII and currently have the LS-25mkII. The only one it is close to is the LS-15 IMHO.
ARC LS26 performance for $2500-3000?
Start saving. Unfortunately, you have heard the 26 and that sound is in your ear and mind. You will not be satisfied with anything else. At your price point there's nothing else you'll find that's going to match the 26 IMHOI'm in a similar positio...
Audio Research Reference 3 and BAT spec 6H30
77jovian, I would start with the preamp there will be a noticable difference. The LS-26 is a great preamp and deserves the DR's but eventually you will have to do the amp as well as you'll be craving what the total DR's in your system can do.
Audio Research Reference 3 and BAT spec 6H30
It depends on what you consider worth doing means to you.The 6h30dr's are much better than the ARC 6h30's, more dynamic, deeper bass, highs more extended just better in every area. But the question is are they $300 better?Right now Bat branded 6h30d...
AR CD3, CD5, or CD7?
It depends on how much you have to spend. The CD-7 is the best of the lot if you can afford it. Also, it would be the most expensive to maintain as it has tubes(5 I believe). The CD-3 mkII use to be ARC's top of the line player and probably would ...
John Klemmer
John Klemmer also has another audiophile direct to disk recording on the nautilus label called 'Straight From The Heart" it is more of a straight ahead jazz recording and better than "Finesse" IMHO. It is very rare and hard to find and if you do f...
Audio Research LS series......
The LS-2 cannot be considered a tube preamp as it only has one tube. It is considered more of a hybrid. It does however sound very good particularly the mkII version. The LS-15 is also a good performer and can be made better with a good quad of No...
CD has laid back and uninvolving sound
What powercord are you using? Also, interconnects
My LP couldn't beat my CD, until now
Johnnyb53, Speed accuracy in and of itself doesn't mean good sound, there're other variables that factor into the equation.I've been in highend audio almost 30yrs. and around a lot of audiophiles and none have ever thought technics turntables to be...
System Advice Please
The 6h30's can be switched out to nos! Conus Audio and the tube store currently carry nos 6h30dr's. They're costly but they're available. $310 & $320pr.
System Advice Please
Ditto the LS-26, PH-5 it will take you a lot further. There's a synergy with ARC equipment, that combination will be excellent.
